Scarface (1983)
I wanted to give it a nine!
It should have been a nine - it has everything i look for. Nice long time frame, storyline based in fact, impact of the life of crime on the family. Yet I only gave it an 8..............! The music is awful, it is intrusive and generally yuck!
Angel's Dance (1999)
Slightly disturbing, slightly funny ... a slight film.
It kept my attention to the end, however, without spoiling the film for anyone....... when she fixed the fridge by getting a book from the library, you knew how the film would end when she went back to library for a book on self defence against and assassin. The film, for me, said nothing of worth.... is becoming an assassin really a remedy for mental illness or just another symptom.
Galaxy Quest (1999)
Galaxy Quest, the laughs are out of this world!
A great way to spend 102 minutes, however, if you have never seen a Sci-Fi film (as unlikely as that sounds) you will not laugh once. It is worth seeing the 'cutting room' floor stuff on the DVD too, if nothing else it explains how Sigourney Weaver's top mysteriously became unzipped to her navel....... The only puzzling thing for me was Alan Rickman - he seemed to be doing a Peter Cook impression throughout. Well worth a watch.
A Letter from Death Row (1998)
Awful, avoid ... avoid... avoid...
What can I say, it was awful. Basically you have the pop star, the single famous actor (Martin Sheen for about 90 secs) and a script that actually takes itself seriously. There was a twist in the tale, however, you could see it coming about 10 minutes into the film, and to be honest by the end I just didn't care.
Sorry, but cannot think of any redeeming feature
Ronin (1998)
Very impressed.
There were times in the film when the suspense was so great I thought I was about to have a heart attack..... fantastic from beginning to end. The DVD option of an alternative ending was also a very interesting feature.
