one of the most magical films ever made
17 November 2001
I saw magic last night. Sitting there in the theatre at six in the evening, about to watch one of the most anticipated movies ever made, I decided not to compare it to the book, rather I would enjoy it for what it was and not to nitpick it. What I saw was a stunning movie that substituted fancy action sequences (although there were some real knockout sections) for a heart and soul. Daniel Radcliffe was an AMAZING Harry. Not only did he look exactly the way that I thought he would, he has very good acting skills for an 11-year old kid. Rupert Grint and Emma Watson were also great. Rupert was so adorable and funny, and Emma's Hermione was just as I thought she would be-stuffy on the outside, but on the inside, a genuine and kind person. Professor McGonagall was amazing. Maggie Smith did a very good job of playing her. However, the kid who played Draco Malfoy was awesome! He was such a little snotty brat that you loved to hate him.

Of course, that doesn't mean that there weren't SOME action sequences. The scene where Harry plays in his first Quidditch game was amazing! The CGI was incredible, but the Quaffle wasn't round! That was kind of weird. However, that doesn't compare to my favorite scene in the whole thing: The scene where Harry sees his parents in the Mirror of Erised. That entire scene made me want to cry. Radcliffe did an amazing job of portraying the love and anguish on his face. He's a cutie, too! He's gonna be really cute once the series starts getting into four and five. The guy who played Oliver Wood really didn't strike me as a Keeper. The book describes him as burly, and this guy was kind of skinny. But still...I thought he was HOT!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, I was also captivated before the movie even started. And why? Because I was one of the 1/2 of theatres that got to see the brand new STAR WARS trailer, entitled, "Forbidden Love". I was not disappointed. Hayden Christensen looks like he's going to have no problem filling the Pinocchio performance of Jake Lloyd. The preview shows that he doesn't have trouble portraying real emotion. But back to Harry Potter. I wouldn't be surprised if this movie went on to break the records held by TITANIC. That's how good this adaptation is. See it!

Saturday Night Live (1975– )
The most amazing show, Jimmy Fallon is my lover
22 October 2001
This is comedy in it's purest form-it's raw, edgy, and it takes the happenings of modern America and smacks its face until it cries. Usually I'm crying from laughing so hard, however. This show, however, was at its best in the 1970s and early 1990s. Dana Carvey, Bill Murray, Jane Curtin, all of them are my comedy idols. The 2000-01 season, with Colin Quinn leaving (may his career rest in peace...sorry dude you were only funny as that guy from Ireland during the Cspan thing, update sucked with you), was, as someone else said, a renassciance period. The cast looked better, the quips were wittier, and, although some very prominent cast members that we loved are gone (CHERI!! MOLLY!!!! CHRIS!!!!!!!), this new season has already proved that the new generation of Saturday Night Live is alive and kickin'. Thank God that Ana and Will did not leave, they are amazing. Will Ferrell is the centerpiece with hilarious impressions (Jacob Silj, anyone?). And the weekend update is the funniest that it has been in years (thank you Colin) with the first duo in a long time, Jimmy Fallon and Tina Fey. Speaking of Jimmy...he is my lover. That man is SO HOT! Plus he is insanely talented. Men who are funny and cute are so sexy. Okay, enough of my rambling. My fave sketches now are: Bahston Teens, Wake Up Wakefield, Weekend Update, Message from the President, and the Bloater Brothers (even though they can't do it anymore). SEE THIS SHOW IT ROCKS!

Spyder Games (2001)
Very hip soap with one hot actor
21 June 2001
Okay. This is my new favorite soap opera. "Spyder Games" basically deals with the corrupt and out of whack Carslile family, and their father Boris, who created the video game corporation known as Spyder Games. Dimitri Carslile is back in Fort Kent after a stint in Hollywood, and the only daughter Natalia is busy as a powerless vp at the company. The youngest of the Carslile brood, Sasha (and, by the way, is a dead on lookalike w/ Ryan Philippe), is busy getting his rear end in all sorts of trouble and gettin his freak on w/ someone that is seven years older than him-the beautiful 23-year old Taylor. Little does he know that his best girl friend Cherish Pardee is head over heels in love w/ him. Meanwhile, the second oldest Carslile, Ivan, is getting ready to marry his sweetheart Kate. May I add that Ivan and Natalia both hate their father, while Dimitri is the pet and Sasha is spoiled w/ Boris' lax attitude. What happens next?? Well, you're just gonna hafta find out. Okay, time for the review! This is a great show. Funny subplots, very delicately worked mysteries, and kickass scandals that'll make you gasp. See the wedding episode and see what I mean. It's crazy! I think my favorite female character is the owner of Come-On's Boutique (Daphne), where Taylor and Cherish both work. She's hilarious and wacky and totally into soap operas. She misses an intricate part of the plot because she was tuned in to BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, for god's sake! I don't like Taylor. She's a total B**** for telling Cherish to go for Sasha while secretly boinking him in the janitor closet!...Okay okay, you got me...my favorite male character has GOT to be the most BEAUTIFUL man I've EVER SEEN, Sasha Carslile. He is SO GORGEOUS! And I totally think that Robert Hutchinson (the guy who plays him) will go really far. All in all, watch "Spyder Games"!

Half Baked (1998)
Hilarious
28 May 2001
This is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. And it's not just because I love Jim Breur. I usually don't like these movies but in this case, I have to make an exception. This movie is hilarious. Especially when Thurgood is shouting, "I got some booty, I got some booty!"

Words cannot express...
21 April 2001
I saw Baz Luhrmann's MTVified version of Romeo and Juliet first. I enjoyed it immensely. My sister came home one day and, her being in ninth grade at the time, said that her English class had started watching this version in class. She said she had to buy it because it was so amazing. So on the day she bought it, my sister and I sat down to watch it. What I saw moved me in inexplicable ways. I think that Olivia Hussey has to be the most incredible Juliet ever to grace the screen. Sure, some people have said that she acted the part too immaturely, but come on! The girl is fifteen. And she's going through most of the same problems as Juliet is going through. I think that's what Franco Zeffirelli is trying to convey. And Leonard Whiting. God, why did this guy disappear? He was such a convincing Romeo. The scene where he goes to visit Juliet in the tomb was the first one that had me bawling like a baby. And plus it doesn't hurt that the kid is beautiful. I mean, come on! The guy is hot! Well, not now...but...you know. But that isn't the only reason that this movie is wonderful. It makes Baz Luhrmann's version look like a oversized music video. And, who could forget the hilarious portrayal of the Nurse by Pat Heywood and John McEnery. They are so funny! I was laughing myself sick over the scene with the nurse going to talk to Romeo. And what about the balcony scene?? Ahhhhh! The balcony scene is the most romantic scene in the history of literature, and they totally pull it off. I love the fact that they are both filled with wild passion, but also complete love for each other. You see that Baz?? When it's called a balcony scene, it usually is on a BALCONY! But I still love the Leo version. It's just that this one takes the cake. And if you see it for anything, see it for the haunting music by Nino Rota. It was the music that first made me cry.

Pippin: His Life and Times (1982 TV Movie)
Wonderful, but strays from original
28 January 2001
I'm in a production of Pippin (Player, Girl, Beggar, Courtier), and one day, my director sat us down and screened this movie for us. Well, Ben Vereen is fantastic!!! And Chita Rivera IS Fastrada. I don't think that anyone else can pull off being sexy in the same way that she does. The only one who blew it in my book was William Katt. He was a HORRIBLE Pippin. And what the heck was he doing bouncing around the stage like that yelling the line "GLORY'S IN THE AIR!" And the only thing that didn't tickle me like the rest of the movie did (the bedroom scene was HILARIOUS)was the cuts. They cut out Theo's duck dying and most of the lines when Pippin was made King. Some of the adlibs, I admit, were pretty funny, i.e. when the leading player yells at Catherine about flubbing the line ("But he touched my hand, they don't normally do that!" "I don't care WHERE he put his hands!"), but others were just really dumb. And the orgy scene made me blush furiously. Now, I admit, my production is cutting the bed scene and the duck dying, but it would've been better if we hadn't. The same applies for this. But other than that, this is a great movie.

cool
6 January 2001
Growing up, I really loved these movies. Sean Fox was the end-all be-all for me. I don't think that now, but I love this movie. The action, although corny, is still really awesome. Again, this is NO JACKIE CHAN, by any standards. But still, little kids as ninjas?? Also, Miyo was cool. Adding that little love story between her and Rocky was a given, but it was sweet. I love the part when he totally screws up the pitch because he keeps on thinking there are Lisa DiMarino's everywhere. And, "We should run!" "We should hide!" "LET'S KICK THEIR BUTTS!!!!!!!" LOL!

Again, I really am a kiddie-movie person, but I love this movie. If you're the same kind of person, rent this movie!!!

Deep Impact (1998)
One of the BEST movies!!!!!!
20 December 2000
This is got to be one of my favorites. I, personally, am a HUGE Elijah Wood fan, so don't mind me if i'm a little biased. Well then!! I thought that this movie was very very good. I cried so much at the end, my brother came down to the basement and was like, "What's wrong with you?" One of the only reasons I bought this was because of my hunkster crush on Elijah (oooooh ahhhh...). But, he was really really good! Who can argue???!!! Morgan Freeman was fantastic as the prez, but Tea Leoni, honestly, needs to be shot. She's ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. She ruined what is, at heart, a beautiful movie. Flatly, she can bite the big one. How David Duchovny married her, I will never know. Oh well. Loved Elijah and LeeLee. ELIJAH IS so cute!!!!!!! I'm glad that he made the transition from child cutie to adult babe! And his acting range is incredible. Just before this, he made OLIVER TWIST. He was fantastic as the Artful Dodger. Well I G/G!

David Copperfield (2000 TV Movie)
Fantastic!!!
16 December 2000
Well, no matter what anyone else thought, I thought that this adaption was great!!! The costumes were incredible and the acting was brilliant. So who cares what the other people thought of the movie. The love that David Copperfield spoke of for Dora was really believable. Also...Sally Field is in it. What else can I say. She's brilliant. Mrs. Murdsen was, in all honesty, a jerk. I wanted to strangle her. That is good acting!!!!! Hugh Dancy...come to the Americas and stay!! You are fantastic!!!!!

Infinity (1996)
"Hello! My husband is a physicist!!!" "Don't do that! Don't wave at the cars!"
17 October 2000
Not only is Matthew Broderick one of the most GORGEOUS men on the planet, he delivers a stunning and beautiful performance. One of my favorite lines is "I'm working on a job for the government. I'm getting paid. This way I can take care of her, at last." That line slays me. When she...you know, and he breaks down...well, I just start crying like a baby at that point. Patricia Arquette is always wonderful, of course, and she takes the cake as Arline Greenbaum. The running gag in the joke is when they say, "What do you care what other people think?" to each other. And when she says, "I think I'm a very lucky woman to have Richard Feynman for a friend." And then the look on Richard's face, so full of love for this woman who "knew him by heart". Patricia Arquette's voice when she sings is kinda...eecky, but it has that swinging bluesy quality that was popular when the movie takes place. All in all, Matthew Broderick is HOT and SEE THIS MOVIE. Matty is an INCREDIBLE DIRECTOR!!!!!!!

"um Laurie?? Yeah...could you please um...GET OUT! thank you!"-Eric
26 August 2000
This show is absolutely hilarious. Topher Grace, besides being GORGEOUS, is so funny! Fez is played by a truly gifted man named Wilmer Valderrama. Jackie is a total ditz, and Donna is perfect for Eric. Of course, Kelso is a total laugh-a minute. The parents are hilarious too!

Boy Meets World (1993–2000)
Great show that will be missed
30 May 2000
I first noticed this show around the middle of the second season, when Cory exchanged places with Feeny for a week. I was laughing my pants off at the loony karma of Topanga and the home troubles of Shawn("my uncle was in a documentary! Yeah, they put a big blue dot over his face and changed his voice..."). Cory was fantastic also, but the real star of the show is Eric ("They're having a baby! I'm gonna be an uncle!"). I watched the series finale, and I was in floods of tears. We'll miss you Boy Meets World. You don't find shows that teach good moral values anymore.

Babes in Toyland (1986 TV Movie)
wonderful movie with wonderful stars
28 May 2000
ok, sure the lines were corny. And I admit that the music sucked a little. But this is a perfect movie. All of the actors are wonderful in this film (especially Keanu:) and Drew Barrymore is adorable. Hey, syrupy sweet is what she does best! Lisa Shoelen disappeared suddenly after. Shame. She did a fantastic job as Mary Contrary. And of course, Barnaby and Zack and Mack are hysterical. I fortunately won this treasure at a raffle in my school and I was captured by the simple message-if you can look through the eyes of a child and believe in the magic of toys, you are truly lucky. Rent today!

wonderful film, absolutely fantastic!!!!! I was captured by the simplistic setting and the wizard of oz-like qualities. Lisa Sheolen was fantastic as Mary Contrary, Drew Barrymore was at her sweetest as Lisa Piper, and Barnaby was played to perfection. And of course, who could forget the fantastic Keanu Reeves :). Rent today! You'll never forget it.
