Tangled (2010)

A good Disney movie. Not the best, but a lot of fun.
24 November 2010
I took my two boys to see this, the older of which was kind of irked at being dragged to a 'princess' movie but I'm happy to report we all enjoyed it. The only reason I'm really writing a review (since its getting enough positive reviews to really cover most of what I liked about it) is to say that there IS a reason to see it besides the 3D effects.

I am not a huge fan of 3D films, in fact, it is rare that I don't find it to be a distraction. Frankly I don't WANT to be tricked into believing I'm actually *in* the film unless I'm at an amusement park, perhaps. I like my distance from the goings-on within the picture.

We saw this without 3D and the breathtaking scenery was more than enough to feed the senses on its own. Don't feel like you need to shell out the extra 8 bucks for 3D (the upgrade in cost per matinée ticket in my neck of the woods) because its perfectly enjoyable without it.

All that being said, it doesn't have quite the clout or likability of the very best Disney when it comes to the songs and pacing, but I would still give this picture a low A, recommend it for family viewing and see it again with a friend if they wanted to. This was far and away better than the Frog Princess, a film which I found terrified my youngest child and bored my older one.

How It's Made (2001–2019)

Great Show
17 October 2006
I think those who are critiquing the lack of intimate details aren't paying attention to the idea of patent infringement. This show gives a great overview of the making of everyday objects we take for granted. From CDs to barstools...even beer! My oldest son was mesmerized by the wine making episode and has become a fount of information, lol. I love to watch this show with my kids!

My only critique is that the voice over is occasionally too bland; other than that, its terrific! If you are a fan of learning, you will probably enjoy this show.

Give it a try; if its not for you, no worries. But perhaps your children might enjoy it, so let them give it a shot!

My favorite movie as a child
12 December 2003
And my children love it now! Granted, I can watch it now and realize the animation wasn't that great, and that the plot is trite. Hey, if every villian introduced themselves by saying "I ammmmm DAAAARRRKK HEEEEAAARRT" I think they might be laughed at, but for young children it is a moral story with catchy music.

Music so catchy, mind you, that I still had the words memorized after not seeing this film in twenty years. I would definitely suggest this one for younger children.

Even more fun than the first
30 June 2003
In a world filled with worthy art films and stirring dramas, one should not entirely discount extremely well-made fluff.

Anyone who is a fan of the original series might find the second film in this franchise even more insulting than the first. If you are a die-hard fan, this film is not for you.

If you are, however, someone who watched the show only occaisionally, never watched the show at all, or watched and took the oft-bikini clad babes packing guns and taking names *lightly* (and you're out for a night of guilty pleasure) by all means, see and enjoy this film. It was artfully crafted for just that purpose.

First of all, the stunts. 'Charlie' most definitely challenges the old favorite, 007, in implausible deaf-defying feats and if Die Another Day is any indication, Charlie is now far in the lead. The chase scenes are breathtaking, the escapes even more so and each one is filled with flames and splashy extravagance. One scene melts into the next and the viewer is left with their eyes glued to the screen and their mind some 500-odd feet in the air, trying desperately to fling three attractive girls into a moving helocopter without chopping them to bits.

The Matrix-like physical combat still skates unbelievable without disolving in the massive cheese factor this movie openly embraces and even a few brainless one liners cannot kill this flick's amazing sense of timing. You will laugh, cheer and admittedly, groan.

The editing is flawless, the soundtrack brilliant, the girls beautiful and the action intense. What else could you be looking for on a Saturday night?

Fun and entertaining, though leave your brain at the video store
16 January 2003
This film is truly dishonored by such negative reviews. It wasn't Shakespeare or Wilde, but it was most definitely amusing 80% of the time (which is more than one can say for most comedies).

A great cast, a decent adaptation, not something I paid to see in the theatre but most definitely a fun rental, enjoyed by all I saw it with.
