Doragon Bôru Zetto Tatta Hitori no Saishû Kessen (1990)
Bardock - you rule, baby!!
Well, I only saw this two days ago for the first time - and as a newly recruited Dragonball Z fan (that is, a solid fan for the past 2 years), I have to say that this was fantastic. Bardock was beautiful (and that is a term I only usually use for Piccolo and Vegeta). I have to say, that at the start, I couldn't see much resemblance between Bardock's personality and Kakarot's (Goku's). But as the film progresses, you can't help but notice the same self-sacrificing and caring nature they both share although Bardock's was kinda buried. They are both willing to die for the people and planet that they love. And Vegeta! Well, he was beautiful. Very true to character arrogant and proud. (I'd like to take a moment here and point out how sorry I feel for Vegeta, named after his father and his planet!). As was Frieza. I couldn't help but find myself despising that cold-hearted lizard all over again and I must admit I had a great laugh when he was defeated by Goku on Namek (albeit temporarily) and permanently by Trunks on Earth. But anyway, all I have to say is that this is a classic piece of Dragonball Z work.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
W.O.W.
WOW!! First off, those who complain about the film...ARE YOU NUTS?!?! Films are merely forms of entertainment remember? And this film was very entertaining. The special effects were EXCELLENT!! I have to admit; I fell in love with a couple of actors after watching this movie. Hugo Weaving - always a favourite - made a delicious elf, as did Orlando Bloom. YUMMY!! Ian McKellen was lovely as Gandalf the Grey - GOOD MOVE! And Christopher Lee was really creepy as Saruman the White, but then again, isn't he always?
Now to those who say that this movie has no plot, are you people blind? The plot is right there!! I'll spell it out for you. *Old hobbit (Bilbo) has evil ring, bequeaths it to young hobbit nephew (Frodo) *Frodo and 3 hobbit friends (Merry, Pippin and Samwise) directed by wizard Gandalf to embark on a journey to Rivendale (home of yummy elves) to give ring to elves for safekeeping. Unfortunately, no go. *4 hobbits continue journey with other members of fellowship of ring (Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and Sauron) *Encounter danger *One dies *Journey to be continued in next movie Very basic, and I've probably left out a lot, but there you go.
I really enjoyed this movie like you wouldn't believe - how DID "A Beautiful Mind" beat it? (Mind you, Russell Crowe is a pretty solid actor.) As a fantasy movie it rivals "Harry Potter", I loved it that much. (And I LOVED "Harry Potter" - especially Alan Rickman as Professor Severus Snape) All I have left to say is: 2 thumbs up; 10/10; ***** out of *****.
Along Came a Spider (2001)
uh...
What can I say about this movie but IT SUCKED!!! The only good thing in it was the villain (Gary Soneji, played by Michael Wincott). I mean, all of you who say this movie is good, have you ever read the novel?! Alex Cross is a vibrant cop, not a tired one. He experiences passion with his wife, and is basically NOT Morgan Freeman. (Don't get me worng, MF's a great actor, just not for this part.)
The X Files (1993)
Simply da Bes'!
I absolutely adore this show!! I love the way Chris Carter has made the "good guys" good without being annoying. (Congrats 2 u!!!) The introduction of new-comer Special Agent John Doggett was unexpected for me, but he's pretty cool. I was surprised when I viewed Robert Patrick's film list earlier - seems I've seen him in numerous movies before and never knew it!! To go from such "baddies" like T-1000 (T2-Judgment Day) or Coach Willis (The Faculty) to the goodest of good SA Doggett is not something I'd be able to do myself. I bow down 2 u, Robert Patrick! The "bad guys", however are a different story. I dunno, I like Krycek, he's a real SOB but the Smoking Man, and Kersh (is that how you spell it), I just wanna shoot in the forehead. They annoy me. Especially Kersh. I hope someone can tell me why the X-Files and Fox Mulder in particular are such a threat to him. But all in all, I give a 9/10 for it.
Top Gun (1986)
IT'S DA BOMB!!!
For anyone who hasn't seen "Top Gun", GET OFF YOUR BUTTS AND WATCH IT!!!!! It is truly da bomb! It's my absolute all time FAVOURITE movie. The only part I didn't like was the intensly mushy part but that's ok. It just didn't seem to go so well with the rest of the film. Or maybe it went too well. Hmmm...may have to think a bit more about that one. Anyway, for a film made in the 1980's it's the best. I'm 17 and I love it above all other moves (though ID4 comes easy 2nd.) Go watch it. That's all I can say.
