Patch Adams (1998)
First impressions from vcd last night
24 December 2000
I loved the beginning to this movie, it really made me want to keep watching. The part with Patch Adams roommate and curing him of his fear of squirrels and the "interesting session" and Patches visit to the grumpy CA patient was such a good laugh & touching for me.

Reading the other viewer's comments has made me curious of finding out about the real Patch Adams. . .the part where Corinn visits the psycho bloke was rather chilling, i thought she might have better feminine instincts to warn her of the situation. I was relieved to discover that it wasn't true after all (in real life) - though it is sad that it happened to his best friend. 10 out of 10 to the scriptwriter for convincing me there!

Robin Williams certainly does shine warmly playing the role of this eccentric personality, but I wonder if we might enjoyed this movie more if it were more true to life?

Titanic (1997)

Watched it on the screen a few years back and could not sleep that night. I couldn't stop thinking about the poor people who drowned.

The plot was not as interesting to me until the Titanic started to sink then the mood started to pick up. i'm sorry that the characters were too one-dimensional to make me feel sorry for them when they drowned, Kept wishing i knew more about them before they pulled the plug on the everything. . .

I watched the documentary on cable channel then spurred me on to borrow the video. The documentary made me cry more than the movie, amazingly. Watching it on video, I could watch the sinking bit 100 times, its the best! I just fast forward the whole middle section of the movie and watch the start and ending. I can truly imagine myself sinking with the thousand plus desperate people, the special effects are truly convincing and fabulous! I cheered for the single lifeboat which went back and wonder what were the real stories of the 6 people whom they rescued?

I'm very interested in discovering the stories of all the survivors and what really happened to the people who were on the Titanic because of this movie's attempts to recreate that fatal night. Thank you!

They don't make movies like this anymore! Thank so much to Alexandra Long for sharing your insight into life and relationships. The first time I watched it in February 2000 I cried for 1 hour after watching it. I blamed Guy for getting over Jenny too quickly. Last week when I watched it again - Sept 2000, I saw things differently. They had hit a brick wall in their relationship and didn't know how to fix things. That's life - If only they went to a marriage counsellor! All principle characters I thought were superb in their translation of their parts - Richard, Jenny and Cate - they might have been my neighbours across the street. Real people, with real reactions and emotions.
