Great film for aviation buffs, not much else - and Thule AFB is in Greenland!
5 January 2003
As commented before, what makes this picture different from most "military PR" pictures is that it is quite frank on the sacrifices made by the people who serve and their families which still goes on today. It makes me wonder how we get people to serve when the pay and benefit are really a mere pittance, although I can understand why Dutch Holland took all those flights when whiny June Allyson is your wife.

As for the aircraft - what a visual treat to see these grand aircraft of a bygone era in vivid color. Almost makes up for the lackluster story.

On a side note, a commenter stated that the film erred in placing Thule AFB in Greenland, but the film is correct, Thule is in Greenland, not Iceland.

Mars Attacks! (1996)
I "get it" and I still don't like this movie
29 August 2001
The common theme of those who like this movie is that the people who don't like do not "get it".

Well, sorry to disappoint. I love MST3K, Monty Python, SCTV, etc. and I grew up watching 50's Sci-Fi, so I get it

Problem is, this movie assumes that by just being a parody, it's automatically funny. It's not. The same joke(s) repeated 50 times in a row doesn't help either.

If you like this movie, great, but don't assume people who do not like it are somehow missing the boat. It just did not come up to my expectations for Mr. Burton.

I believe this was not a highlight on Mr. Morrow's flim resume
22 June 2001
This is one of the funniest B-grade 50's Sci-fi epic I've ever seen. As lousy as this is, I still enjoy watching it.

The famous story I heard is that Mr. Morrow, not seeing the completed film, went to the premiere in his hometown, but snuck out in embarrassment when the audience went into hysterics when THE GIANT CLAW came on the screen.

I still feel bad for the late Mr. Morrow to this day.

What the hell is this movie about???????
14 February 2001
Open at a biker funeral - then watch biker chick drive around for miles with 5 bucks worth of drugs in headlight - give to another biker to have them drive for miles burning up 10 dollars worth of gas - give to director guy and dog - Ross Hagen gets out of a plane to investigate what I don't know. Ross then drives around on bike for miles to some bar to listen to the bike song and drink beer then go to a field to drink and throw bugle boy into pond to hear him exclaim "Abbedopluliska a vont" then drive more after implied bike race, go to director's guy hangout then to waterfront while biker gang comes to the rescue at 27 MPH... AAUUUGGGGHHHH!!!

This is a bad movie even for Ross Hagen, and MST3K barely makes it tolerable.

Don't say you weren't warned!!

One "Great" Great Dane (or Rate Rane)
3 January 2001
This is one the rare cartoons that got it right, at least early on in the series. Too bad the series degenerated over the years with "guest stars" and the anti-Christ of all cartoon characters - Scrappy-Doo. The creators of Scoob certainly must have owned a Great Dane because the characteristics are all there - especially being "chicken" all the time.Even after all the overcommercialization Scoob and friends are more popular than ever, a testament to a winning formula

enjoyable but not hilarious

I always enjoy watching this movie but always come away with the feeling this could have been so much more. The magnitude of comedic stars in this movie is great but it seems they weren't given much to work with.

Unfortunately this movie started the annoying trend of " a bunch of big stars automatically equals big laughs" kind of filmmaking, most recently done in the stunningly unfunny, unclever, unbearable "Mars Attacks!".

The greatest Danish monster movie ever made
7 December 2000
Of course, I think this was the only Danish monster movie ever made. So-so movie except for the General who knows only about the use of POWAHH!! From the (in)famous Sid Pink who also brought you Angry Red Planet.

If you own a Great Dane, you must see this movie!
7 December 2000
A very enjoyable film, though my view may be a bit prejudiced due to I have a Dane. Kudos to director Tashlin for giving Mr. Bascomb a distinct personality and some very funny moments! This movie is a testament to both Martin and Lewis as they had basically ended their partnership while HOB was being made, yet still seem to be enjoying themselves.

a classic
7 December 2000
This is an exceptional movie considering the year made - 1933 - excellent directing and acting all around, except the pub owner's wife constant shrieking got rather tiresome, but why quibble? Outstanding special effects for the time also. This should be required viewing for all who want to do Sci-Fi movies.

Can't helicopters go up and down ?
1 December 2000
In this sad flick they can't. Seems the RE/DD team just retooled ID and stuck a lizard in it instead of actually watching a previous Godzilla movie. Where's Godzilla's personality? Give me a guy in a rubber suit any day over this tripe.

Bueller?? Bueller??
