The Mummy Returns (2001)
This movie is quite bad.
No, let me re-state that, this movie is terrible. It was very disappointing, because I liked the first one a lot. It has very little in common with the first one.
The kid is extremely annoying, and in no way acts like a kid would act in real life, completely stupid. There is no suspense, the action is way over the top and totally unbelievable. There are so many implausible plot elements and ludicrous things happening it was hard to keep track of them all.
I started to roll my eyes after about 15 minutes into the film. I wanted to stop watching, but for some reason sat through the rest of the torture. The only thing decent about the film was the scenery, which kept it from getting a "1" rating.
Kiss the Sky (1998)
A serious movie that probably only men will enjoy
I do not understand the rating for this one - I rated it an 8.
My guess is that women will not enjoy this movie, not to mention men who only like movies with a lot of action or comedy. This movie is definitely a talk-fest, but if you are interested in philosophy (why am I here?), you should like this one.
Men - I do not recommend watching this with your significant other. If you do, be prepared to say "I would never do that" and "I do not identify with these guys at all", otherwise, many arguments are predicted.
The Perfect Storm (2000)
Imperfect Movie
Very disappointing. The only redeeming scenes are the ones with the storm - unfortunately, you have to trudge through what seemed an eternity of boring and uninvolving character buildup. I found the writing to be quite poor, and the characters uninteresting. The scenes with the storm are very good, with excellent special effects, but this does not save the movie.
Gladiator (2000)
good, but not great
This is a standard action movie, good but not great. I did not like the "look" of the movie, too dark and gray. This seemed to match the tone of the movie, somewhat depressing throughout. However, there is plenty of action and excitement to please fans of the genre.
Aliens (1986)
My favorite movie of all time
Aliens is my favorite movie of all time. To me, it is the ultimate movie experience. It has more excitement and pulse-pounding tension than any other. It is perfectly directed by James Cameron, it could not have been done any better. Excitement is not the only thing it brings to the table - it also has great characters, a wonderful relationship between Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) and a little girl, great acting, and of course, the Aliens. It is also very funny, especially Bill Paxton's character. If you like thrillers at all, you must see this movie - it is the best!.
Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid (1982)
one of my favorite comedies
This is one of my favorite comedies of all time. The one-liners are great, Steve Martin is at his best, and Rachel Ward is beautiful. You should be a fan of silly humor, otherwise you may not like it. I have seen this one many times and still enjoy it.
Night Moves (1975)
average
Night Moves is an average movie, actually slightly less than average considering it is supposed to be a thriller. I found it slow and somewhat boring. I am a big Gene Hackman fan, but his presence does not save the movie. The resolution of the movie is also a letdown. It has a very 70's feel, with stereotyped and kooky characters. Not recommended.
