Why?
18 January 2023
If you have read the books, then don't watch the series because it will break your heart. Anne Rice would be turning in her grave and you can guarantee that those parties involved with overseeing her legacy don't give a damn about it! Shame on you and your lack of integrity!!

Do yourself a favour and read the books instead of watching this devolving mess. In the book you will find, and fall in love with, great characters that have been omitted from the series.

A poorly cast Lasher .... dear god. Jack Huston is a great actor, but 'Lasher' he is definitely not.

Credit where credit is due where 'locations' are concerned. Nicely done.

Again .... WHY?

An exploration into dullness
5 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I am a fan of both Lawrence and Henry .... but this was like watching paint dry. Good performances by both given the script and stunning lack of ANYTHING actually happening. I realise this was a character study of two people facing trauma in their own way, while becoming friends ...... but sheesh it was all shades of deadly dullness.

I actually turned it off, not something I would normally do. I did not care enough to find out what happened to either of the main characters. I felt no connection to them at all, I simply did not care. Doing my dishes had greater appeal ... lmao!!

I hope that this is not the last that we see of JLaw. I normally love her work.

A pleasant surprise

A refreshingly original story ... yay! An unconventional romance - or series of romances rounded off with a satisfying ending.

A series of tales as told by the djinn about his trials via the narration of the main character in a third person format ....are you confused yet?

The production values displayed on this movie are faultless. You do have to wonder about the fetish scenes (you will know when you get to them), they were pretty confronting, but that could be my biases at play here.

The execution of this story was cleverly wrought. It was especially nice to see Tilda Swinton not playing Tilda Swinton and Idris being his normal gorgeous self.

Ridiculous.

The first half hour sets the film up reasonably well ..... and then it goes to hell in a hand cart. Annoyingly bad decisions followed by unbelievably bad decisions by the main characters kill your drive to continue watching.

The first lion attack scene with the main characters, where they leave a window down in the car .... really!! The main character is virtually dragged through that open window by the lion with no serious injury ... really!!

I expect to suspend reality for movies, but the consistent poor decisions by the main characters followed by a complete disconnection to any type of reality is too much and you wind up turning this drivel off. They may as well have had a winged invisible lion and been done with it.

I couldn't tolerate this movie for a second more even to look at Idris.

A wasted opportunity for a good killer creature flick. The writers need to take some time writing a story rather than churn out garbage that sees their brand names tarnished. I will in future avoid anything written by Jaime Primak Sullivan that is for sure.

Unnecessary hate for this title
11 September 2022
If Taika Waititi is directing, then you can safely assume it is going to be very tongue in cheek ..... get over it!!

It was serious when it needed to be, and it was light hearted entertainment for the rest of the show. It achieved what it set out to do. It told an entertaining story with a fair dash of humour.

It never set out to redefine the genre and achieve awards notoriety. It is a nice addition to the marvel entertainment stable, but it wont set your marvel world on fire.

It is more fodder for the 'bread and circuses' stage of our societies existence and that is all.

You won't take anything away from this movie, but you will be, to a degree, entertained.

Amazing!!

It's hard not to be moved by this film. This is life according to a little shell separated from his family, so it is an exploration into the things that connect us to our nearest and dearest. The execution of this film is adorable. Sit for a couple of minutes and you will be entranced by the alluring nature of the main character.

The character developement is very clever. The relationship between the main characters is what marks this as being quite an original piece of cinematic entertainment. You almost forget that it is stopmotion as you fall in love with Marcel.

Kudos to the team that put together this refreshing and poignant little visual and spiritual feast.

A slow mo car wreck

Urggghhh!! What an awful tawdry affair this was. This directors awkward approach leaves you feeling like you have witnessed a real life relationship travesty of the hopeless kind. Perhaps that is what the production team was gunning for.

I couldn't tell which character I liked least of all, his or hers. Essentially this is a story about a deeply dysfunctional relationship. A promiscuous, drunkard wife and an emotionally inadequate and sullenly murderous husband. I think at times this movie is trying to be some sort of pseudo sexual couples fantasy .... and it fails.

Expect to feel as though you should look away. Expect to feel as though you could slap both of the main characters into tomorrow.

Nothing original here, but loads of fun anyway.

Nicely done family flick with Ryan Reynolds being Ryan Reynolds, which is awesome if you are RR fan. Well cast, nicely paced sci-fi flick with some very cool cg imagery.

Wasted on the small screen. Should have been on the big screen instead of the current 'The Batman' garbage.

Wow .... What a phenominal FLOP!!
17 March 2022
Between an insipid Robert Pattinson and a woeful story line, coupled with an awful script, there really was no trajectory but down for this embarrassing rendition.

I was very eager to see this new take on the Batman franchise and all you could do was pray for the end to speedily come along .... and you waited and waited in vain for the tragedy to end, and it just wouldn't. People around me, and I should mention they were unknown to me, fell asleep during the movie. They should be grateful for their escape.

Please consider yourself forewarned. It is unrelentingly boring.
