Evil, explicit and exciting
30 December 2008
Although I can accept the critics of the minimal storyline this movie shows, I don't get what's the real problem with it. The effects and stunts are okay. The characters are of a standard kind for a movie like that. Story and idea are on a good atmospheric level. And the main argument for rating this movie on a higher position: Excitement... really nerve wrecking excitement. Also, Natasha Henstridge and Christopher Lambert did a good job. I like both of them as actors and charmful characters. The combination of Mad Max, Bone Collector and Escape from NY fits to the main actors and results in a interesting and thrilling movie based in somewhat dirty end-times.

Chasing Amy (1997)

Sorry, but this movie really sucks!
1 May 2008
A friend of mine once suggested the movie to me. Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Kevin Smith... no problem, I thought. I like this guys, although "Dogma" really annoyed me by watching it for a third time ( - and I'll never watch it again). But I followed my homey's recommendation and got myself in front of the screen, watching "Chasing Amy". After this torture I told him, that I've never watched such an strenuous movie ever. Don't get me wrong. The acting's alright. But the boring and unnecessary complicated storyline and the role of the "female problem" - Amy, really made me angry for about the whole length of this movie. By the way: How could a smart-ass like the role of Affleck fell in love witch such an super-boring, super-catchy girl like Amy? No no no, I still annoys me so badly, though I've been watching it some years ago... no no no!

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant!

I can't help myself. It still feels like the best movie I've ever seen... and I guess I'm not wrong, at all. There are so much emotions in this great screenplay, that even men could start to cry. The philosophical theory of it is felt in every single second. The head actors are great and play like in a dream that became reality. We were three, as we watched it in an very small local cinema. But the atmosphere was great - all the girls cried - and the men tried to avoid it. If you don't like this movie, you haven't understood it. And even if you cannot get all the details together, you can still get your emotions by feeling all the drama inside of it. So great...

Phantoms (1998)

Really really boring
3 May 2007
Come on, this movie's really bad! I've seen 3rd class TV- movies, which were more exciting than this trash. A boring town, very boring actors (yea, Affleck in his worst movie) and the most boring monsters I've ever recognized (did I?). Let's face it: Dean R. Koontz is the most untalented producer out there. If you've got Affleck, O'Toole and cutie Rose McGowan, a movie just needs to become somehow good, or acceptable at least. Even if the story has been used for so much times in movie history: Evil monsters in an abandoned town... man! I recommend "Alone in the Dark" with C. Slater if you want to watch a non-high-quality-excitement-movie with some action and fun. I know, this movie's not that great at all. But way better than this ultra- boring phantom- crap with bad visual effects, stupid dialogues and the worst storyboard ever. Don't watch it... please!

A good one, though it feels something's missing...

... and don't know what exactly this could be. From the first minutes you notice, that it's a movie based on a novel- story. Confusedly but intelligent, sensitive but tough. Somewhat strange story, De Palma had chosen for his new project.

I like it, though after it, you might have the feeling, that you're too dumb to understand. And the moral of the movie is "Everybody is kind of crazy in this world", I guess.

By the way: Excellent actors - they all play their roles very well. Every character has something to hide (like in a book - you know, what I mean). You even feel it in this movie. It's pretensions are on a high level. We had luck, the movie's made in Technicolor ;)

Spider-Man (2002)

Worst kiss in movie history!!
15 February 2005
All my friends like the movie, I do not! The story's as simple as dumb: There is Peter Parker transforming into a human spider, a bad guy wants to rule the world (after he also got transformed - into a crazy sucker) and our beloved Kirsten Dunst is so sweet and helpless, that Maquire (Parker) needs to rescue her. The jokes are as smart as the German music charts (I know this disease, cos' I am German) and the upwards kissing scene is the worst piece in movie love (how sick and slimy!). Good: Nice special effects (especially Maquire's computer- muscles... *he he*) * Bad: Everything else * Ugly: Willem Dafoe *** I guess, part two is better than this boring standard-hero-bad-guy-story. The poor fact is, that I like every further movie of Tobey Maguire more, than the first Spider part.
