The Serpent Queen: To War Rather Than to Bed (2022)
Finally great actors get great writing!
Great acting, pretty good writing, but as I feared with a director and camera work like this, all that other hard work is just going to look and come off as weird. The director has never come across to me as using her craft to further the story telling process. It's always off in that way you can't quit put your finger on, but something prevents you from being fully drawn in. This second episode, that Camera work was just hilariously. Shot like it was a telenovela. Wide angle, hold for dramatic effect, camera quickly draws close and the most profound thing you have ever heard is just then uttered. It made the great writing and award winning level acting come off as sophomoric, and it absolutely distracts from the story instead of pulling you in further. The editing did not seam very in tune this episode either, however it's hard to know given ep 2 was a different editor than Ep1. To the writers, Bravo, it's hard to find good writing these days. To the actresses, your performances should gain you an amazing amount of positive attention and rightfully so, clearly you all worked extremely hard for it. To the director, cinematographer, and editor, you do these people a great injustice by not following their example. If everyone is not on the same page in terms of storytelling, the story will suffer.
Night Sky (2022)
Finished all 8 ep
Yes it's a highly developed character driven sci-drama, that moves slowly to no where. Yes, the actors give an amazing performance, and never really tell you a thing about the story line. Heavy handed writing and award worthy performances just don't make up for there really not being a plot or any real insight as to why these characters should be in this journey in the first place. Backstories aside, Jude's mere existence is never explained in any detail what so ever. Giving little to no reason to invest in this character and his journey. The absence of Jude from the plot wouldn't change much of anything significant by the end of the 8th episode. The writing comes across that there are a bunch of mysteries big and small, and by the end of the season, the only thing that is revealed is that none of them will be resolved, explained, or play a part in the outcome of this very boring, slow moving, poorly written, plotless disaster. Suspense is good, but suspense that does not lead to an answer is just sloppy and arrogant on the writers part for thinking they can captivate enough of an audience to justify a second season.
Tesla (2020)
This movie can clean carpets!
There are no facts in this movie............that are accurate. There most certainly was not any shred of good acting to be had. It's a waste of time and the money spent to make this piece of garbage could have been better spent in any number of pandemic relief programs, js. So yes, this movie can clean carpets, it sucks harder than a Dyson.
