Van der Valk (2020)
An interesting series
Warren is 53 and looks 53 despite effotrs to make him look younger. Of all the young actors apparently auditioned by the producers, Warren being chosen is a curious choice. One wonders what the real reason was. The series is filmed in Amsterdam, and most of it looks less tacky than I remember it. But considering the many series filmed in the UK, it's a welcome change of pace. I haven't seen any of the earlier series; I don't recall them on US television so this series is interesting. The supporting cast is very good, especially the pathologist. There is supposed to be a second series.
The Equalizer 2 (2018)
Thin plot
That stupid black kid was stuck in this movie to make up for a thin, predictable plot. Denzel Washington soldiers on, admirably as he always does, in spite of the bad acting from most of the cast. I hope we are spared an Equalizer 3.
Chicago P.D. (2014)
Great scenes of Chicago
That's why I watch it. The actual shows are typical Hollywood "attack each and every cast member" soap operas. Either they are jumping into bed with each other, downing shots at a local bar, or digging themselves out of trouble; it is an annoying series. It shouldn't be, too much clichéd writing, it is fairly well filmed, and some of the episodes are quite good, others terrible. I get tired of the eternal boy scouts Seda and Soffer but the good news is Seda is leaving. his acting, even after all these seasons, is poor. Good riddance. I didn't object to Bush's leaving either. What is with her voice? The best cast member for my money was Koteas. They write him beautifully and he brought a humanity to his scenes that was wonderful. And they got rid of him for some stupid reason. Swell. So many cast members have come and gone, it's annoying. I watch it but it's not a favorite. We will be watching marathon reruns into the next century.
