Worst movie I've seen
Look I get it, most of us are at home, we have a lockdown and all legitimised porn is welcome. But let's just call it what it is and look for better porn ok? This movie being top 10 at Netflix makes me sad for humanity. In one of the first scenes the guy basically rapes a flight attendant by implying she blow him when she is at work and he's a powerful maffia head. But wait, she enjoyed it! Right, because flight attendants wait around for a chance to blow their clients. I'm surprised there was a female director involved, because this whole movie seemed a guy's fantasy (otherwise known as bad porn, yes), just as long as you have enough power and money, all the women will enjoy blowing you and if you fall in love, you can kidnap her and then she will love you too. Oh and when she does fall in love with you, first thing she will do is blow you! Not kiss you first, no hug or touching otherwise, she'll go straight for your dick and blow you. Come on people!
Idiot (2003)
Fantastic!
This is the first time ever that after reading a book, I see the film adaptation and (almost) everything is just as I imagined while reading the book! Absolutely amazing!!! The casting is just perfect (excepting one character), the atmosphere, just everything is wonderfully caught on film. The way Evgeny Mironov plays Prince Miushkin, and Olga Budina's acting... just superb!!! Not forgetting Vladimir Mashkov (Rogojin), Inna Churikova (Elizaveta Epanchina) and nearly all the rest of the cast!
Just a few minor points:
- Nastasia Philipovna was not as spectacular as I imagined. Somehow I expected more of her beauty and acting. - The film should have started at the train scene, just as in the book!!! I can't explain why, but I felt like this was essential for the beginning of the story.
But altogether, a wonderful job on this one, thank you Mr. Bortko!
Anna Karenina (2012)
Disappointing
For over a year I have been waiting for this move to come out. I had just read the book then and couldn't wait to see it on screen with such wonderful actors. I must say that I love this book and cannot describe it in words, but I couldn't read any other book after this, just because nothing compares to this masterpiece. And I am a person who loves reading...
But this movie... From the first scene it seems like a mockery of what is definitely one of the best books ever written. The only thing that captures the original idea and feeling of the book is Keira Knightley's acting (and only at some moments). The rest, all of the directors work, is nothing but a caricature of Tolstoy's work. To take such a complex and rich book, which contains so many life lessons and so much intelligence, or rather brilliance, and make it into a simple, frivolous play, is simply profanation.
I understand that the director has tried to be creative (and has probably succeeded at that), and I am just an amateur giving my opinion of course, but it is still says something when he had such a masterpiece in his hands, a group of magnificent actors and still has managed to make the movie (for some moments at least) pure torture for me to watch....
