The Problem with Jon Stewart: War (2021)
Review from an European
Apple is an American company and Apple TV+ audience is largely American, so I am not really expecting the show to focus too much on WORLD issues, but rather on American issues that can be transposed to the European reality.
I really enjoyed the first episode of this show. It was funny (yes), but also deep, sincere and informative, rather than superficial and trying too hard to get a laugh from the audience.
I am definitely going to keep watching every episode. It is culturally enriching and I like to understand the American reality has much as the European one.
Also, even though I am a John Oliver fan, I can't help but feel that he tries too hard to get that laugh from the audience, by sometimes evoking references that not always people understand. That is where he sometimes loses me.
I hope Apple and John Stewart can keep up the good work!
See: The Truth About Unicorns (2021)
Keeps getting better and better...
This story keeps getting better and better. I am really curious to see how this will all wrap up this season, but the tension is building for sure.
This episode is somewhat dark which makes it harder to see during the day... I will have to rewatch it this evening. Love, betrayal, suffering, death and DOUBT characterize this amazing episode.
Sibeth pulled the rug under Maghra's feet and I am very curious to see what she will do after this. In my opinion, Tamacti will be key in the next episodes to come. I think Kofun will get badly hurt at the hands of Sibeth.
I you like Game of Thrones... This is the show for you!
Game of Thrones: The Last of the Starks (2019)
I don't understand this fans... GoT is brilliant and this episode proved it!
I respect that everyone is entitled to their opinion but some fans are going too far. People need to understand that one thing is the books - A Song of Ice and Fire and other is the TV series - Game of Thrones which is BASED on A song of Ice and Fire.
All this episodes have been great so far and I have been loving the story telling. Unlike a lot of people I find the writing very good and faithful to the characters. In general I think D&D are doing a good job.
I just don't understand all this 1* reviews before the episode airs. Episode 3 was great. Why are people being so unreasonable? Since the early seasons and even in season 7 we learned that killing the Night King was their best chance. That happened so the Night King is gone! Why were people not expecting it? That has always been the plan and I love it.
Regarding episode 4 I think it was really good with a lot of great character moments. Tyrion and Varys are back in the real game of thrones doing what the do best - playing. Jon is going face lots of hard decisions because of his divided allegiances. And I pity Daenerys. She is going through very difficult times and everything is falling apart.
Her claim to the Throne is weakened and she hasn't realized that are people conspiring against her. She went north to fight for Jon and left in a very bad and weakened position. Her army grew smaller and she realized she has not the support of the people in she had in Essos.
I don't know how this is going to end but something amazing is coming. I just want to appreciate these last two episodes of this great TV show.
Game of Thrones: Winterfell (2019)
Great episode! Why all the disappointment?
In the last few days I have been reading some reviews that have left me wandering why people watch TV if they don't even know how to watch TV. Lots of people didn't get the beauty of this episode and I can't understand how that happens.
This episode is supposed to be a reunion for characters that don't see each other since episode 1 of season 1. (read this again if you need). So there is a lot to explore in terms of character behavior and expectations. Game of Thrones is much more than bloody battles and chopping heads off. GoT is about the characters! This is the reason the show works and is loved by millions! The characters and their relationships are the core of everything. Not the dragons, not the magic - THE CHARACTERS.
So when people go online and post reviews of 5 stars and 4 stars as I have seen recently on such an important episode I wonder if they really watched the same episode I did.
Lets recap:
1) Daenerys arrives at Winterfell! THIS IS HUGE for the entire plot of the show. Jon acknowledges her as Queen and we will see how this evolves. The Northman obviously are not happy. Sansa is not!
2) Jon rode a dragon for the first time. The dragon named after his own father no less. HUGE!
3) Jon finds out who he truly is. How will Daenerys react and what is she going to do? We are about to find out who she really is as a person. This is perhaps one of the most important things that happened in the entire series. Everything that Daenerys has fought almost since day one is about to fall apart.
4) Jon reunites with Arya! Jon has always been her favorite brother. In the books it is mentioned that in terms of personality Arya is a lot like Lyanna Stark - Jon's Mother.
5) The Night King is in Westeros and he has started spilling blood. Now we truly feel his presence in the show.
5) Finally, Jamie Lannister sees Bran alive since that moment in season 1 when he throws him out the window. And this is how the show ends.
Please, now explain to me how people who are fans of the show can give 4 stars reviews. Think about what happens when you are watching! And try to get the meaning of it!
I can't wait for the next one!
