Cursed (2005)
This is one of my favorite movies!
If you love campy horror flicks, you will LOVE this movie. It has a collection of B-list stars who all do great in their campy roles. Christina Ricci is amazing and adorable, and you will be entertained during the whole movie.
This has to be one of the only Werewolf movies that I actually like and doesn't go too deep into the myths and legends. The characters are all believable and the world the movie portrays is a place I would love to live in. We all know Wes Craven can do horror, this is his answer to the campy B movies that have come out, and he does excellent!
If you're looking for some edge of your seat thriller, this isn't for you. This movie is meant to have fun, not to be taken seriously. It is one of my favorite movies, and is unapologetically campy.
17 Kids and Counting (2008)
Interesting glance at another world
The Duggards are very interesting specimens. Yeah they are a bit freaking and abnormal but since there's so many of them they find solace in each other's company. Its truly a show about the strength of family. The world might view them as crazy (and I do as well); but they live their lives the way they want and no one can stop them and that is something I admire. They are crazy religious and all the kids are like too perfect. (Seriously the 20 year old son is dating a girl and they have chaperons for all of their dates!) I have to admit I end up laughing so hard at some of the things this family comes up with but you gotta love the kids (and hope they are sent to therapy someday). I probably won't watch another episode of this show but if you're into looking at other people's lives deeply then this show is worth a shot.
Meet the Spartans (2008)
Oh lighten up people
This film is perfect for someone who wants to go to the movies and relax and have a good time without having to think too much or waste much emotional energy in a film, it's just a short film that is easy to take in unless you're so uptight that you actually squirm from this movie because you can't stand a spoof movie that is "idiotic". (It's meant to be idiotic so just shut up)
Cmon lighten up, it was a decent film with a few slight laughs and it did exactly what it was supposed to. Don't bash this film simply for existing, let it exist along with all your other "high class" films and ignore it, the fact that you're wasting time on here bashing it shows that it must have some importance to you. 7/10, it did what it was meant to and made a ton of money. major props.
Cape Wrath (2007)
A risky newcomer.
If you haven't seen Meadowlands yet, I suggest you at least watch the first episode which can be found at the showtime website.
This is a risky new show which plays off a family's mysterious past that haunts them as they try to build a new life in Meadowlands, an eerie town devoted to housing witness protection clients. The show raises a few enticing mysteries such as "Why is Meadowlands so safe?" and "What happened to this family?". So far the series is delving deep into the relationships among the townspeople and some shocking events ensue.
The show can be creepy and even horrifying at times, it's not for the faint of heart (which you should know by its TVMA rating). This is the first British television show I've seen, and it really is fabulous. All I can say is, another amazing show on Showtime. Highly recommended.
