A very deserving film

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much, based on the trailer I thought that it was going to be a dull love story. But it turned out to be quite a special story without any love, really, without cliche-d characters. It stayed interesting for the whole duration of the film, it was filmed nicely, it got me involved in the plot. I have very strong opinions about Edith and her family, it was also interesting to see Anton as the victim of the situation and to see how (badly) he handled it. It was very human and very unexpected for a melodrama. I was very satisfied with the ending, because it seemed most plausible and believable. Just all in all a very good film that deserves more than 6,5 rating that it currently has.

Worth watching

It's quite a decent film. I had a lot of reservations, not being interested in asian cinema, but the film was captivationg and well-made. The picture is very nice, great camera work, locations, the story in dynamic and interesting, the actors play well. I'd say the only negative element of it is their voices/intonations, I guess it is a part of the language, but oh my dog please stop whining... 2 hours is a good length, not too long, but the story had the chance to develop. It is quite complex as well, it doesn't drag on one spot. People in the cinema were laughing and gasping a few times, so the drama and depiction of the realities of life is there.

Too vague

Not that it's completely rubbish, but I want to give it a low score to oppose all the good reviews and awards. I don't think this film deserves much attention at all. It's nicely filmed, a nice vacation, but for me, not more than that. I think it's for people who have problems and see themselves in the girl or the dad. To me it's just a story without conclusion.

I also wonder if I was the only one feeling uncomfortable because of the gilr starting her puberty, noticing older boys, looking at couples kissing, reading women's magazine. I felt multiple times that maybe the film will go into pe do topic (unsure if the platform sensors such words).

Okay, dad is depressed, but to me it didn't cause sympathy. He can obviously act and feel normal, why have these outbursts and go into the sea or be crying naked looking between his legs (another uncomfortable moment).

I'd like more storyline, better ending and to take away the oscar nomination.
