Star Trek: Discovery: All Is Possible (2021)
Almost made me turn off...
This has to be the worst episode of trek I've ever seen. The writing is dry, predictable and cliche. Tilly is without a doubt the worst character in the series. If Starfleet is letting that standard in, I'm not sure Im as inspired by this fantasy as I used to.
Carnival Row (2019)
The standards have been set...
This kind of gritty, ultra graphic, sexually charged drama is not for everyone. But for those looking to embark on a deeply detailed and multifaceted journey, will be spellbound.
The standard for A grade tv has been set. Seem less blending of fantastical makeup, digital set extensions that test you to find the seams and quality photography that demands a big screen and surround sound system as minimum just to take it all in.
It's this level of production (and no doubt substantial budgets) that have changed the face of modern TV and attracted a quality of staff only previously found in major motion picture.
Emmerse yourself in the lore of this show. Watch how the production blends the umber tones of a steampunk world and shows realistic and believable interactions between two worlds never joined before so intricately.
I can't sing the praises more.
Hyperdrive (2019)
Extra points for effort!
From a game show perspective, this show gets about a 6 or 7 out of 10. It's got that got talent cheese and guilt ridden build ups. But I must admit, it makes up for it in raw filmography and intense "in the lap" perspective.
The future is here and it's in the form of compact 4k cameras, super smooth drones and high powered LEDs on a dmx system from hell!
This WILL be a spectators sport. It will gather more experienced and higher skilled drivers. And I can definitely see the show taking the challenges to all sorts of heights. Especially if it gathers popularity and cash!
The extra points are for the geeks. The techy dudes who know all the latest kit the get their productions looking sweet and the perspective first class.
The best thing is, it's all affordable making production value even greater!
Great job.
Bob Lazar: Area 51 & Flying Saucers (2018)
Pretty, but poorly put together.
This is what happens when you have 20minutes of archive footage, but you need to fill a full program timeslot.
Very little information about aliens, just the same old speculation and no proof etc.
I have NO idea why Mickey Rourke did the voice over.
You can't understand him and it feels forced in order to fill time.
Just another droning conspiracy doco with spooky music. Nothing special, at all.
