No show's perfect
10 August 2010
This show has been on t.v. for going on ten years now. Families suffering hardship apply and the winners get their houses "made over." It is heartwarming to witness this. I do have a few qualms with the show, however. It is disheartening to see what many times is still a perfectly good house being torn down in a matter of minutes. Inhabitants of the Third World would really wonder what the problem was. Aiming to please, the builders/designers sometimes overdo it. For instance, does a family of eight really need eight sinks in one bathroom? It is disheartening to hear the Lord's name being taken in vain repeatedly as the usual response to seeing the new structure. "God will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain." If you overlook these few faults with the program, you will enjoy it, and be amazed with the speed it takes to erect a large, commodious house with all the amenities, custom designed and built for the particular family being featured.

Titanic (1997)
History? Only partially.
5 November 2004
This film leaves a lot out, but of course how long do you want it to be? For a run down of a lot of dramatic moments omitted by the film, consult http://www.biblical-counsel.org/ga-01.htm.

The iceberg sequence looked fake. Perhaps it could be done more realistically now (seven years later). I mean, how gullible do you think your audience is?

The key line in the film is (to paraphrase): "Even God couldn't sink this ship!" The obvious answer to that brazen statement is, "thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." Herein lies the cause of the tragedy. Hopefully, many people learned the lesson.
