What I Like About You (2002)
As a series in itself, moderately amusing. As a "episode by episode" show, great.
Not much I can say about this show except that it's a great one.
I actually never heard of this sitcom until I took a trip to the states and saw this on TV along with some show starring Reba Macintyre (wow). After hating Reba, I proceeded to watch WILAY and was amazingly surprised; Jennie Garth pulls off an amazing comedic starring role as Val, the surprisingly witty older sister of Amanda Bynes' Holly. The supporting cast is only at a par level with the exception of Wesley Jonathan's "token black" character Gary who's performance outdoes his City Guys run.
After mentioning these three characters comes my biggest peeve of the show: Everyone Else.
Any characters you see in the opening credits of any season aside from the said three characters are there for basically that season. Any love interests in the show are put into the credits only to be written off the show when it's been decided that the relationship ends. Any time you have committed to any of these characters ends up being wasted.
Chance (2002)
Definately not as good as you've been told
I'm a huge Buffy and Angel fan. When I heard that Amber Benson wrote and directed her own film, I went crazy. Even crazier when I saw the crazy high rating on IMDB. After looking for it for over a year, I finally found it and watched it.
What resulted is a movie which is very cheap and filled with bad acting. Okay, no offense to the Buffy and Angel lovers, but that's just the truth. The film's storyline was good but the directing Job was terrible and the acting was even worse.
In summary, it was cool to see Tara, Spike, and Lorne together. But hey, just because I'm a fan of Buffy and Angel, it doesnt mean I'll automatically like a movie which has relations to them. Those who gave Chance such a high movie rating here on IMDB are blatantly full of bias, which is understandable. But honestly, this movie aint that great.
Daredevil (2003)
For the love of God and all that is Holy, this movie should be burned.
Daredevil. Great comic book character from the Marvel universe. Dont know much about DareDevil? Here goes.
Matt Murdoch is a lawyer with a secret. When he was young, he was involved in an accident with Radioactive Waste which blinds him for life. However, turns out that the radio active waste enhances his sense. Most importantly, Murdoch develops the ability to "see" through sound. Just like radar. He meets a man named Sticks who trains him martial arts and how to use his enhanced senses. When he's grown up, Matt Murdoch is lawyer by day, and Vigilante Superhero by night.
THE MOVIE --------- This movie was terrible. All copies of it should be burned. Why? Let me tell you. The story of Matt Murdoch's accident with the waste was cool. But everything after it is just stupid. Sticks? The dude that trained DareDevil? Not in the movie. Apparantly, Matthew Murdoch trained himself in the ways of Martial Arts. About a week after he's blinded (and remember, he's 12 years old), he gives a bully a moonkick. (Anyone play street fighter? Guile? Moonkick? Yes. That moonkick.)
Also, the character Elektra (badly portrayed by Jennifer Garner by the way) is poorly developed; we learn nothing about her except that she's the daughter of a billionaire and she knows martial arts too.
Kingpin. Very coool character. Too bad we didnt learn much about him. Duncan plays him well and i actually hoped we'd learn how he turned from thug to crime lord. His character's great up until he says "I was raised in the Bronx"
The bullseye character was alright. He doesnt talk much. He gets p**sed cuz DareDevil made him miss once. And then when they fight, he misses again like 500 times. And yet doesnt get p**sed about that.
The storyline of the movie is pretty terrible. I cant explain to you what happened because I"m actually not sure. All i know is that i hated it.
1/10.
and I love DareDevil too....sigh
