Not The Best Muppet Film, But Still A Good One
27 July 2019
The Muppets Take Manhattan, is not one of my favorite Muppet movies, but it is still a good watch! Like most Muppet movies, you will see some pretty big names featured in the film and all of them take park in the goofy gags and jokes that Muppets are known for. Manhattan is a great film for any Muppet fan!

Williams: Best Performance In A Disney Film!
23 July 2019
File Aladdin as one of those Disney movies that will live on forever. No remake, no live action, no sequel will top this film. The cast was all great, but there is no doubt that Williams made this film with his Genie. The jokes that Williams was able to bring to the film was hands down, one of..if not the best, performance in a Disney film to date. The animation was fantastic, the storyline was great, but most importantly, Aladdin had one of the best (and most complete) soundtracks from a Disney film! 10/10!

Robert Newton Made The Film!
20 July 2019
Disney's Treasure Island was fantastic. It has been many...many...years since I lasted watched Treasure Island. As I got older, and became more knowledgeable on Disney and their movies, this movie became even more important and special. Robert Newton's, Long John Silver, is second to none. Newtown single-handedly changed the way that we think of pirates and how they talk/dress/act. Newton made this movie something to be "treasured" for future generations.

Amos and Conway Make A Great Pair!
18 July 2019
I had not heard of/seen The World's Greatest Athlete, before watching the film recently. I thought the movie was hilarious and was significantly better than most Disney live action movies from the era. I was disappointed to see so many bad reviews by viewers. I think the combination of John Amos and Tim Conway, was fantastic and provided a lot of humor you don't typically find in the 60s/70s Disney films. I am surprised that I had never heard of the film before this..I was missing out! I recommend the film for anyone looking for a funny sports movie.

Jungle Cat (1960)

Pretty Cool!
17 July 2019
I was a little surprised to see how low the rating for Walt Disney's Jungle Cat was. We are a little spoiled with the creation of shows like Planet Earth and the advancements in technology. In my opinion, for a film from 1959, Jungle Cat is a pretty cool documentary. In just over an hour, you are introduced to a number of different animals, and you get to observe quite a few unique situations. If you combined today's technology with the scenes that were captured in '59, I think you would have some much better viewer ratings. If you are a Disney history nerd, you've got to imagine Jungle Cat is exactly what Walt set out for in his nature films. Jungle Cat is well worth the watch (so long as you don't constantly compare it to Planet Earth).

Toy Story (1995)

Historically Great On So Many Fronts
17 July 2019
What can I say? Toy Story is easily one of the best movies from recent history. I haven't met too many people that didn't enjoy the original Toy Story. On a historic stand point, Toy Story set the standard for animated films going forward. The contributions that the film has made to the art, the iconic characters and catchphrases that are now instilled in pop-culture, and a cast that can't be rivaled, Toy Story is an absolute much watch. The storyline of the film is great, the jokes are perfect for both adults and children, plus like any Pixar film, the amount of Easter Eggs will keep you wanting to watch Toy Story over and over. I can't say enough positive things about this film!

Rascal (1969)

Enjoyable Film To Help Pass The Time
17 July 2019
This was my first time watching Disney's Rascal. I am not 100% sure I understand the reason for the movie, although I do know that it based off the book. Overall, I thought the movie had its humorous moments, especially the scene involving Rascal in the general store. I am glad that I was able to mark a "new" Disney movie off my list, but I am not sure I will have a desire or need to re-watch the film in the future. Rascal was an enjoyable way to kill some time on a rainy day.

Both The Attraction And Movie Are Long And Dull
16 July 2019
I know die hard/old school Disney fans swear by the original Disney Swiss Family Robinson but...I didn't like this movie as kid and I disliked it even after rewatching it as an adult. The movie is slow and boring and if it wasn't for the last 20 minutes, the film would be a 1 on the rating scale. The fight between brothers for the "girl" grew old....quick. In fact, a lot of the of the movie was a little too corny for my liking. Sorry Swiss Family fans, the attraction at Disney World and this movie both are a hard pass for me.

Some: Artistic Shorts, Classic Fab 5 Shorts, Modern Character Shorts
15 July 2019
I won't comment on every short included in the collection, but some were really good and others dragged on. Frozen Fever, Tangled Ever After, and How To Hook Up Your Home Theater, helped to restore the Disney film magic that has been lacking in a number of releases the last few years. When Pixar/Disney release their collections of shorts, I typically enjoy most of them. The Studios short film collection is no different. You get to see a more artistic/independent side, a classic Disney Fab 5 side, and a modern day Disney side! Plus, who can complain about some old "style" Goofy shorts!

A Bit Slow At Times
15 July 2019
I am torn on Saving Mr. Banks. I don't know if A. I like it B. I hate it or C. Meh (more than likely C). Sadly, I did not enjoy Tom Hanks as Walt. I like to believe I know a good amount of history on Disney/Walt, so I was excited to watch this film for that reason. On a historic stand point, I really enjoyed the film. From Walt's infamous throat clear to the the images of the Burbank studios, it's defiantly based in Disney history. At points, I thought the film dragged on a little and painted a pretty rough image of P.L. Travers. I am glad I watched Saving Mr. Banks, to better understand some more Disney/Marry Poppins history, but one watch is enough for me.

Forgettable Songs And Characters
15 July 2019
Mary Poppins Returns is in a tough spot...the film will forever be in the shadow of the original Mary Poppins. Even with "Returns" looked at as its own film, it is still lacking the Disney magic. The songs in the film are forgettable and, with the exception of Mary Poppins and Angela Lansbury's balloon lady (for personal reasons), even the characters are not good. I am highly disappointed with the route film went and will always prefer the original Mary Poppins, which was iconic on so many fronts. One cool thing to note about "Returns" is the use of real..hand drawn...animation in parts of the film!

The Best Donald Short Out There!
13 July 2019
As a fan of Donald Duck, I would easily put this as my favorite Donald short/film. The short was able to capture the iconic personality of Donald, creating a humorous exchange between him and his nephews. Several of the scenes from "Donald's Snow Fight" will make you laugh even if you've seen it 100 times before. Between the snowball fight and Donald's sled, this short is well worth the watch!

Another Christmas Classic
13 July 2019
Another classic Winter/Christmas Disney short. The film features an infamous Pluto vs Donald segment. I found it interesting how different the animation is from this (1930s) to even the Fab Five of the 1940s.

Nothing More Classic!
13 July 2019
When I think Disney Christmas shorts, I think of Pluto's Christmas Tree. When I think of classic Chip N Dale, I think of Pluto's Christmas Tree. When I think Disney Christmas anything, I think of Pluto's Christmas Tree. To me, Pluto's Christmas Tree, is one of those iconic films in the Disney archive that you need to see. It shows the Disney magic in only a few short minutes. You can't help but feel good and laugh at this classic Disney short.

Santa's Workshop Sequel
13 July 2019
The Night Before Christmas, could easily be looked at as a "sequel" to another Christmas Silly Symphony: Santa's Workshop. You will see a lot of the same toys and the same style Santa in both shorts. Both shorts are filled with comical gags and jokes. Although 50+ years before my time, I could imagine this idea of Santa and Christmas Eve was exactly what people thought of in the 1930s.

Look for some Mickey Mouse toy placements! Even back in the 1930's, hidden Mickeys were a thing!

A Classic View Of The North Pole
13 July 2019
It's crazy to think that this short is from the early '30s. Like a lot of Silly Symphony shorts, unless you are big into Disney, you wouldn't automatically assume this was a Disney production. Once you take a closer look at the film and the jokes within it, you can see the quality of production and, if you're like me, find it hard to believe that the film was created in the 1930s. The gags are funny, the animation is good, and this image of Santa is used quite a bit, even today within the Disney world.

No Words, No Problem
13 July 2019
Once Upon A Wintertime is a classic Disney short. I can remember watching the film every Christmas when I was little. The short was featured on a number of Disney holiday releases in the 80s/90s. Part of the Disney magic is being able to capture the attention of viewers and have a sense reliability to characters...even animals. This short, although created early in the Disney Studios history, was able to showcase the talents of the artist......without a word being spoken (minus the song). For all the Disney nerds out there, Once Upon A Wintertime was, in part, a Mary Blair piece.

Funny, Weird, Not Much Sense To Be Made
13 July 2019
It kills me to rate any Disney movie so low, but I can't help it. I understand the history and significance of The Three Caballeros...heck, I have even been on the attraction at WDW no less than 100 times, but I couldn't get into the film. I am not sure I fully understand the movie, other than Donald visits Brazil and Mexico and somehow receives some gifts (throw in a short about a penguin). Donald's character is as like-able in this film as in any other, but the flow of the film didn't work for me. I am sure back in 1945, this film was viewed as being advanced, but it comes off a little weird for 2019. Honestly, the best scene was during the iconic Three Caballeros song, other than that, I was not impressed with the film.

PS: The attraction makes more sense now....Visit the Mexico Pavilion in EPCOT!

An Absolute Disney Classic
13 July 2019
Of the hundreds and hundreds of Disney movies out there, Peter Pan will always be one of the first to mind for fans. The movie is an absolute classic that is a perfect example of the Disney movie magic. The Disney studios were fantastic at creating movies with catchy songs and relatable characters. Songs like "You Can Fly", "Following The Leader", and "Second Star To The Right" are some of the most iconic tunes the studios has produced. Still to this day, characters like Pan, Captain Hook, the crocodile, and Tinker Bell are used and loved both in the park(s) and in merchandise.

Peter Pan does a great job at taking you away from the streets of London and dropping you off in Neverland. Although the film is short, it does a great job at making you feel like you've actually seen Neverland.

Nostalgia '90s Overload
13 July 2019
I can remember loving this movie back in the '90s. I recently rewatched it and still thought it was a pretty good movie. The cast had some really big names (for the time), a number of jokes seemed like it pushed the "Disney limits", and well....Chevy Chase. Going back after all these years to watch Man of the House, you notice how '90s the film really is. From video games, to clothing, and hairstyles, it's full of nostalgia. Man of the House is right in the mix of Disney's mid-90s push for live action movies like Heavyweights, Mighty Ducks, and The Santa Clause.
