Reacher (2022)
Wow, season 2 stinks!!!
Man I've been looking forward to season 2 of Reacher for soooo long!!!! And I'm absolutely shocked at how bad it is....!
I don't remember Alan Ritchson being so wooden in season 1, thought he was the perfect fit for the role, so what went wrong...?
The other special investigators don't bring anything good to the table in season 2, absolutely no chemistry between any of them.
It kind of reminds me of the later Reacher books, not a patch on the earlier stuff.
I've watched the first 4 episodes of season 2, really hoping that it comes good, but if anything the episodes are getting worse, and I have absolutely no intention of watching any more. What a shame.
Welcome to Wrexham (2022)
I was so looking forward to season 2, but it sucks!!!
Season one of Welcome to Wrexham was absolutely superb. It had everything, following the ups and downs of their first season with the new owners, and was a pleasant surprise to watch.
At the end of the season I found myself jealous of the Wrexham fans, what a fantastic club to support.
Season two comes along and is so completely different to the last series, I don't understand what has happened.
Did a new team take over the directing, is it just a victim of its own success.....?
No idea what happened, the episodes are really short now, just over 20 minutes each, and the football matches barely even get a mention.
I made it half way through season 2 and that's enough. Too fake and scripted for my liking...!!
Monster Hunter (2020)
Dreadful start...!!
The very opening scene involves a ship that seems to be sailing through sand, captained by Ron Perlman in the worst wig I've ever seen. I almost turned it off immediately but stuck with it somehow...!!!
It gets better, although not much. Gone are the days of monster films full of suspense, where you have to wait until at least half way through the film before getting a proper look at the monster(s). CGI has meant we are thrown in at the deep end like a Michael Bay film.
The pirate cat bit was weird, although Jovovich did a reasonable job in the lead role.
Not a classic...!!
Judas and the Black Messiah (2021)
Difficult to understand
I really wanted to see this film, and was disappointed with the main characters language.
Could have done with subtitles as it was quite difficult to understand what they were saying most of the time.
The Great Escapists (2021)
Bizarre, what did I just watch...!!
Not too sure how to explain this show, as I'm not sure I fully understood it.
Is it meant to be aimed at little kids? Is it supposed to be comedy? Really weird concept that does not work in the slightest.
Really disappointed as I'm a big fan of myth busters and top gear, so I was hoping for something along those lines. It was just awful, it kept switching over to some sort of post event interviews like some sort of investigation, and the acting was of a level you would find in amateur dramatics.
The contrived amount of stuff left behind on the island are built into machines as if by magic, clearly by a team of engineers, and for what purpose...?
Absolutely dreadful, no idea why it has a rating of 5.5 at the moment... it's not that good people!!
Godless (2017)
Slow paced, a bit pointless.
Not a great series to be honest, some great scenery and it was shot well, but it doesn't really make any sense.
Goode is chased by 30 men. At the start he takes out 12 of them, but there are still 30 men after him. Some more are taken out by the black village, and afterwards I counted 34 of them heading towards the town, they seem to be invincible...!! First chance they had, somebody would have shot Frank, plenty of people had a chance to..
Near the start the sheriff takes off after the gang, with no real purpose, he just follows them, for most of the series, all the way back to where he started. The final showdown was disappointing, the best character in the series was the deputy sheriff who just walks out to die at the end...? What...?!!
Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind (2020)
Seriously crazy documentary....
So basically, sometime in the 1960s a whole bunch of people experimented with some pretty strong drugs. These people grew up to be normal looking adults, except there are some short-circuits in their brains. These lsd frazzled loonies are able to see lights and beings that nobody else can, all just by meditating in groups made up of numerous escaped patients....!!
It's very hard to take any of this documentary seriously, the proof of these visitors seems to mainly consist of a few lights in the sky...
Downhill (2020)
Awkward bickering...
Have you ever been round to another couples house, and they start bickering and sniping at each other in front of you. It's not a nice feeling, you feel awkward and don't know what to do...! That's this film in a nutshell, why would anybody want to watch that...?
Human Capital (2019)
Depressing and boring
Somehow made it to the end of this film, it all just seemed a bit pointless.
The film flits backwards and forwards in time, so you never really know where you are up to. The last half an hour is a struggle to get through as it's so slow paced, and ultimately it's just depressing.... don't bother.
6 Underground (2019)
Continuity errors spoil it from the start.
Wow, just wow, how can a film that cost 150 million have so many continuity errors in it at the start. That first car chase scene with the green Alfa Romeo is awful.
The drivers cap appears and disappears about as often as the wing mirrors on the car. Myself and my wife were laughing out loud at how bad it was, totally distracting you from the plot...
Also, if you hit a motorbike and driver at speed you are going to sustain a lot of damage, unless you are in this indestructible car. Elon musk would love to make a car this tough!!!!
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Man, and I thought The Hateful Eight was bad....!!
I'm sure there must have been a reason why 2+ hours of tedious nothing was filmed, followed by a few minutes of action. This is just an awful film, with no direction, plot or any sort of interesting storyline to it. If anybody else had come up with this script it would have gone straight in the bin of every movie studio going. I hope Tarantino stops now, I certainly won't be watching anything else he does....
Fastest Car (2018)
Not bad, needs some work though...
Ok, it's a great idea, and they almost pulled it off, but there are a few problems.
Firstly, a sleeper car is something that doesn't look like it's modified too much. Some of the cars were proper drag cars, virtually none of them were sleepers.
Secondly, one race right at the end of each show?! Come on guys, you've gone to all this effort to get these cars to the track, let's see some more races.
Thirdly, all the individual episodes were held on a tarmac runway, and then you hold the final on dirt!!!??? What the hell were you thinking??
The New World (2005)
Truly awful
Whilst i can appreciate that a lot of people somehow enjoyed this film, i feel that the reviews don't really give enough of a warning to people looking for a good movie to watch.
I picked up this film with little knowledge of the director or the film itself. Had i known beforehand that the director was also responsible for The Thin Red Line, i would have put it back on the shelf straight away.
Needless to say, this film had no entertainment value in it whatsoever, indeed there is little in the way of dialogue, just lots of shots of scenery that i'm sure some people found breathtaking, but if you want to see scenery, what on earth are you doing indoors watching a DVD...? I had hoped to maybe learn a little about Pocohontas in this film. I haven't watched the cartoon version, but you will learn more about the history of America from reading the back of the DVD than from actually watching the film.
Avoid unless you are stuck in the centre of London with no decent scenery to look at...
