Tom Hanks: The Nomad (2023)
AI infancy flaws on full display, masquerading as a documentary.
As many others have correctly pointed out, there is definitely an AI influence to this attempt at a documentary. Personally, I believe the whole of the production was done with AI.
The very first thing you'll notice is the bizarre narration. It is certainly not a natural human voice.
This is quickly followed by pictures not matching subjects. If you find yourself thinking that Hanks' first wife Samantha looks strikingly similar to Rita Wilson, it's because the only pictures they show are of Wilson. I suspect that the AI just used "Tom Hanks Wife" and naturally plugged in Rita for every mention.
I've read this piece gets much worse, but I couldn't bring myself to watch more than 15 minutes.
This is a MUST PASS!
Vikings (2013)
Went woke for political reasons... broke the show for me.
I'm simply done with political change in entertainment. A black female viking? Have you lost your minds? Why is it ok to rewrite history for Liberals? Please tell me!
The Long Dumb Road (2018)
Just good enough to not turn off.
This is a very good "background" movie. One that you can halfway tune into and find enough of a story to ride it out.
There are very few memorable moments and the ending is certainly not one of them. However, the overall feel of zany, but not completely crazy people coming together along the way is one most people will find entertaining.
I'm almost positive that I'll never watch this again, but I'm betting there is a decent chance that you won't regret giving it a spin.
The Minus Man (1999)
An odd gem!
This is a captivating tale that is difficult to categorize. First, it feels much more like a play than a movie, but not in a bad way at all. Owen Wilson gives a solid performance as an affable and aloof drifter with an open introspection about his darker side. Owen is complemented by an allstar character-actor cast.
This film is neither serious nor silly and will probably give you pause for thought. This is very much a drama, so prepare yourself for a slower paced film that does not feel drawn out in the slightest.
The dialogue is particularly notable, with our protagonist/antagonist providing original adages that will likely stick with you.
I highly recommend this unique film.
Heist (2015)
When Hollywood lets their kids make a movie.
Seriously, this movie is nearly a parody of the genre. Every single plot device has been done to death, but never so poorly. Not only were the twists predictable, but they were done so badly as to be completely unbelievable - even insulting. There were enough notable actors attached, that I can only believe they let their young relatives have a go at making a movie. Speaking of the actors, Morgan was clearly on an island in terms of effort.
Honestly, this movie would be bad for a student film. Maybe everyone involved was serving out a court-ordered community service.
Truly awful.
The Intruder (2019)
Horrible!
Don't waste your time. I shut it off half-way through. I love Dennis Quaid, but it honestly felt like everyone wanted this movie over before shooting. I don't know how else to explain it. As soon as the couple moved in, you were asking why they didn't call the police. Decent acting, gorgeous scenery, and then... that's a wrap people!
Just bad, bad, bad!
