The Gray Man (2022)
Ignore the pretension fake reviews it's good
Yeah it's good. Nothing new? Maybe not. So what? It's well done, well acted, well shot, with great sets and actions sequences. It's no John Wick but it doesn't need to be. If you like spy or action films, you'll like it. If you like Ryan Gosling or Chris Evans or Ana De Armas, you'll like it.
Cobra Kai (2018)
A Wonder to Behold
It simply defies understanding how they did this so perfectly. It's nostalgic, fumy and fresh all at the same time.
Star Trek: Lower Decks (2020)
Really funny (but apparently awful if you're a huge tekkie)
This shiw is hilarious. It should he called Star Trek: Rick and Morty. Nit quite as funny but much cleaner. I like it.
Star Trek: Discovery: Project Daedalus (2019)
Simply one of the best individual TV episodes of any show I've ever seen
This is one of the best individual TV episodes I have ever witnessed. The writing, the acting, the emotional punch, the effects. Great job!
A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019)
Makes you want to be a better person
A lot of films have moved me to tears, made me laugh scared me, even made me angry. This is the first time one made me want to be a better person. That's a truly rare quality in a film.
The acting is great. Hanks is fantastic as usual. The structure of the film is also a great homage to Mr. Rogers. For a film that's not about Mr. Rogers, you sure learn a lot about him.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (2019)
Nothing Short of Astonishing
The Dark Crystal has been one of my favorite movies since I saw it first run at the theater. What they've done in this prequel series is absolutely astounding and improves on the world the movie introduced us to. The voice acting, the sets, the story, and of course, the puppetry are so amazing that I have trouble wrapping my head around the fact that this actually got made. Well done Netflix, well done.
Bumblebee (2018)
Hands-down the best Transformers movie
The postive reviews are correct here. My guess isnthe negative ones are from competitors or just trolls
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
This was not the Star Wars I was looking for but it's not a 1 star movie either
After having 24 hours to process I've decided the movie is overall a good film, with second-to-none effects, great acting, nice action and funny humor. First of all, the plot does make sense. After reading hundreds of one star reviews it became apparent that many folks just don't pay attention to movies. Some reviewers didn't understand that Leia can use the force, for example. There are many more similar examples. Yes, there is some boring filler. Finn has no point other than to be a convenient source of knowledge about base and ship layouts. I am mostly disappointed in the choices made for most of the characters. It's like they followed all fan fiction and if someone suggested something, they wrote the opposite so that no one would be right. I kept waiting for a payoff that never came, at least not in a way that was satisfying. It was like doing work for a grandparent who promises you a nice treat as payment and they just give you a dime. You still got payed but it's disappointing and not what you were hoping for.
Wonder Woman (2017)
Don't believe any rating below 5
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that most of the really low reviews are written by anti-semitic bigots. I don't say that lightly, but with full knowledge of the faux controversy surrounding Gal Gadot's (an Israeli) casting as the lead. The truth is, this is an entertaining movie. You will enjoy it if you have enjoyed the Marvel movies or superhero movies in general. It has what the vast and overwhelming majority of moviegoers want. Action, laughs, feels and love. Also a hero that *gasp* isn't dark, ironic or edgy. Everyone in my family loves this movie. It's clean; it has no foul language and most importantly no blasphemy, nudity or sex. Is Gadot an Oscar- worthy actress? - no, but she works here. Does the CG get a bit muddy at the end? - Yup, but it diminishes the movie not a bit. Honestly, the worst thing about this movie is it's set in the same universe as the horrifically terrible DC movies "Batman VS Superman," "Man of Steel," and the upcoming and probably bad "Justice League."
Wo hu cang long: Qing ming bao jian (2016)
Good Movie with Spirit of the original
Like the other positive reviews I agree that this is a good movie that has a lot of the 'feel' of the original. As I write this there is a 1 star review complaining of the English "dubbing." This movie isn't dubbed into English, it was filmed in English. Ignore any reviews that mention the English dubbing, they are just trolls that haven't seen the movie. The fighting is great. There are a couple of sets and scenes I've never seen in a Kung Fu movie. Is it the emotional roller-coaster the original was. No, but it's not trying to be.They accomplish exactly what they set out to do. If you like Kung Fu movies, Donnie Yen or Crouching Tiger, you should like this.
The Shannara Chronicles (2016)
Ignore the Low Reviews if you're trying to decide to watch this
I've read the Terry Brooks books for over 25 years. I've read all of them and I love them. Is this show a faithful adaptation to the letter of those books? No. Is the show terrible? Absolutely not. Any review that says it's low-budget with sub-par effects is trolling. Pure and simple. The show has effects equal to any on network or premium television and is in the same league as some big budget movies. It has the spirit of the Shannara books and I found it fun, entertaining and exciting. The first couple of episodes were a bit rushed making story transitions that were likely days seem like mere moments but that is a minor issue. My rating system is simple if I was entertained and want to see more then it at least gets a 7. I can watch it with my teenagers then it gets an 8. If I liked it enough to write a review - 10. I hope MTV keeps sex out of it (there's some near-nudity in the first 2 episodes that could have been skipped). It's not necessary and Brooks' books simply don't have it. I like the cast, the acting is actually decent (despite the ridiculous troll reviews) and in some instances good. If you like high fantasy, you will probably enjoy this. If you hate seeing young people portraying young people, or don't like fantasy then stay away.
