Lola (2024)
Just a nepo baby who's career is going downhill
I would normally love this type of movie because it's such a moving plot, but I this would be so much better if it was written by someone who actually struggled growing up. Nicola Peltz is completely unreliable to me since her dad is a billionaire and she's never worked even one minimum wage job...her acting falls though and I couldn't finish the whole movie.
I admire she tried, and her isn't awful, but I was confused because she said she wrote this story and relates to it so much. How do you relate to this at all if you grew up with servants? I have to wonder about the positive reviews because this movie did not resonate with me at all.
Anyone But You (2023)
Sydney Sweeney casts herself in a movie she's producing and fails
I almost didn't see this movie because I was sick of how much they were marketing it, but I miss rom-coms and haven't seen a good one in a while.
This movie was hard to get through. Sydney and Glenn both have unique but odd looks to me. They kind of have chemistry, but I almost feel like this movie could have been better with two different leads. Sydney Is good with supporting roles but she's not lead material imo and it's physically uncomfortable to watch her try way too hard to be sexy. I think I read another comment about this in a review and I've always thought she tries to be something she isn't.
The dialogue is okay, but I don't remember much, and overall, I don't love how predictable the movie is. Obviously, some rom coms can be but they're still fun to see how it pans out, but this movie was terrible. I miss old rom-coms from the early 2000s like Notting Hill, Love Actually, and a Cinderella Story. Anyone But You was awkward, kind of forgettable, and only had maybe 1 scene that was kind of interesting.
Meet, Marry, Murder Hosted by Michelle Trachtenberg (2021)
Well paced and intriguing
I love Michelle Trachtenberg but my only thought it sometimes she rushes the narration and doesn't seem 100% into what she is reading, but I love how detailed and put together the show is for a low budget show. I would like to see this show continue but maybe with a different narrator. Did enjoy binge watching this though and the stories they made episodes on. Still love Michelle, just think maybe something else is for her in terms of hosting. Otherwise I enjoyed the performances and.the way they build up certain twists in some of the stories. This kind of show is different because it's not strangers, it's people in marriages that spiral downwards.
La La Land (2016)
So well done!
Everything in this movie is so beautifully done..the acting, the music, the choreography, and it flows so well. Have watched so many times since the release. Emma and Ryan have great chemistry and do an amazing job in this movie.
