Bunny?
this is a very good movie-i love it! of, course i love anything kate hepburn does, especially with spencer tracy. this one may not be Adam's Rib or Woman of the Year, but it is absolutley hilarious. one of the funniest things about it is the way bunny holds her arms when mike hugs her-he looks like a kid hugging a rag doll. for someone who got so excited about being asked to a dance (a "wardance" hint, hint, hint), she sure is uninterested. please note also when spencer is making them laugh at her apartment, and he is acting like smithers-the way she COMPLETELY falls apart cracking up makes it obvious that that wasn't supposoed to happen. lord, lord. one thing, though-who the hell dreamed up the name Bunny for kate? it doesn't fit her personality at all, but actually i think it's kinda cute. i give this one a 8.5
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967)
a last look at a beautiful romance
I love and hate this movie. Not because of the plot, or the story, or the issue it deals with. i love it for 2 reasons: Kate and Spencer. They were together for 27 years in real life, defying all odds in an unlikely romance. Spencer's last lines on screen melt me to tears every time. it is only fitting that one of the best actors of all time would spend his last moments on screen with the love of his life, someone who just happened to be the best and most important actress of all time. what i hate is that this beautiful love story was almost over. 10 days after completing the movie, Spencer died in his love's arms. here ends the most fabulous romance of all time. (SPOILER ALERT) Remember Spencer's last words on screen to Kate; "all that matters is what they feel, and if it is 1/2 of what we felt, that's everything." he was looking straight at Kate(who was not on camera, the shots of her and him were spliced together), he was telling the world of their love, he was paying tribute to before millions. he was saying goodbye. if you havent seen this movie, do so for them. o-by the way-i love it, and i am only 15.
The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle (1939)
An excellent, but also sad drama. Also the most romantic of the RKO musicals.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! First of all, Fred and Ginger are where it's at in my opinion, so my feelings about this movie are not all that surprising. I own all the Astaire/Rogers movies, and this one is my second favorite. (the Barkleys of broadway rules) The dancing is great even if it is not really what we'd expect F&G to be doing. I am a romantic-type-person, so I absolutley love all the "sweethearts" and "darlings" and (possible spoiler here)"Irene, I'm terribly in love w/ you. I never thought I'd fall in love, but I have, and I'm glad I have, and will you please marry me?" That makes me cry every time. 2 KISSES!!! Many pecks. YEA! The end is sooooooo sad. I absolutley hate seeing Ginger cry-it just about breaks my heart. (don't mind me, I'm obsessed.)Anyway-this is a great movie-SEE IT if you possibly can. I thought it was great.
