Luther: The Fallen Sun (2023)
Taut
Makes one wonder what is really going on behind the screens and how much manipulation there is, just ask Twitter about the FBI.
Idris makes a nice come back from Beast, ugh, did not like that one. He pulls off his usual persistent cop persona. The cast did a good job as well. It was interesting to see who the mole was going to be in the police operations. Though some of the "how done it" was above my senses as to how the writer worked it into the plot it followed well enough to make it plausible.
The scenery was very unique for a film of this genre yet it worked quite well particularly at the ending of the film.
Again, the good guys win, but the hair on the chiny chin chin got quite close.
Jak zostalem gangsterem. Historia prawdziwa (2019)
Stuff like this happens, crime may not pay
Long movie, but it did hold your interest. There were several twists that made you question your perspective for the story line. Expect to see the criminal lifestyle. No doubt this kind of stuff goes on and for the lower level criminals it is likely certain that life is the profoundly lived without certainty. For the foreign movies I've seen this one follows through with the same dinginess. One might think that after the destruction of Poland after WWII there would places in less shambles. The film did depict some housing that was quite nice, the starkness made one question if the difference was that great. Don't think I'd want to watch it again, but the first time through wasn't bad.
Nagwonui bam (2020)
The Rolling Stones said, "You can't always get what you want"
Not your typical "Asian" movie. I really enjoyed the story line. This tale was different on many fronts. There was a bit of everything and it was woven together in a manner that kept you wondering. It's the kind of movie I could watch again. No lose ends...
Blue Ridge (2020)
Blue is how I was after watching...
More corn in the movie than corn in the liquor once made in those mountains. Scenery was picturesque, but the people were cast in a terrible light. What a shame.
Sabotage (2014)
Hmmm?
I hate fake southern accents, expect some. Takes a bit for the under story to develop and it makes the the movie a bit more plausible. Movie is a little over structured for me.
Have seen many that are much worse than this. The threats posed to the agents does make real world sense.
Scorched (2003)
Funny, funny, funny
I recall laughing so hard the first time I watched this. I loved Woody, his role was slapstick and he pulled it off like the pro he is. If I can get Amazon Prime to make it available it will be next on my viewing list.
Midway (2019)
Oh well, saved the theater coin.
The best thing about this movie was the closing line, "The sea remembers it's own."
Queen & Slim (2019)
Ugh.
Just too slow. Could have been a good film. Good to see Ole Dave working!
xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017)
What a bang of bucks won't get ya
Hokey, way too far over the top, but hey that was what it was all about.
Snatch (2000)
Classics never die.
Writing, acting and entertainment are so thoroughly covered in this production. Worth every second of watching it time after time.
Michael Clayton (2007)
The way things work
I did so enjoy this movie. I'd seen the tail end, but not the whole movie until just the other day. This production gives an inside glance into the real inner workings of some parts of big business - the greedy ones.
The most ironic part of this movie is "The Fixer" being unable to fix his own situation.
The story line is believable and the actors carry out the truth in the story.
A Star Is Born (2018)
Wow, powerful and moving
I think this is now in my top 5 movie likes. The story line, camera work, performance of the actors were all near perfection. Bradley Cooper pulled off a real film gem. I am going to record this and watch it with my wife and hope we start another fire.
Joker (2019)
Wow, that was some real acting
This movie gave an insight to the picture of mental illness and how consuming it is. If people want to say this movie is "dark" it's the picture of that real disease. For me this movie was a true pleasure, Joaquin absolutely poured all of his talent into his role. His portrayal brought to light the real reason The Joker became such the character. His performance alone made this a must see if you are a fan of Batman.
