My Name Is Khan (2010)
Really not what I was expecting when I did this film for my final psychology project in college
We were supposed to use a film character and see how accurately they portrayed them as having a certain disorder in the DSM-V. This wasn't on the list of approved films but I went behind my teacher and used this film. I got a B on this paper. Anyways, this movie wasn't just focusing on the autism angle. They used the race angle more. It really does show perfectly how an autistic man deals with how people view him as an Indian Muslim post 9/11. It's beautiful.
Fan (2016)
Great for a double role film. Sad ending.
It was a really good film for how SRK had to play two characters. It really shows how we as humans can get so engulfed by our favourite things that we let it take over our lives until there's no turning back.
Zero (2018)
It had a lot of heart and soul. That however, cannot save your film.
Think the film was really really good... In the first half. I feel a little biased though as I am a huge Shah Rukh Khan fan. The romance was pretty lacking to be honest. I mean, at the end (spoilers) the girl leaves her fiancé (wait, are they married at that point? I don't remember) because Bauua goes through all that effort just to get her back. We don't get any satisfying pay off to that. Take Devdas the 2002 SRK Classic. Even though it ended with Dev dying at the end due to drink and intense sadness, it felt very satisfying because at least it wasn't left open ended. We know Paro got married and couldn't have her beloved Dev because of marriage and the extreme sadness that consumed his last dying breath. Back to Zero with another spoiler. The way it ended with him just emerging from the capsule in the ocean was not a very satisfying end. The whole second half you are rooting for him to win her back and it goes no where. The only reason I give this 8 stars is for the first half, the stellar music, phenomenal cast and how much heart you felt went into this film. You could tell it was a passion project that just happened to have not gone over well. SRK fans who followed development and behind the scenes of this film as it was filming will know the passion, heart and soul that went into making this film and hold it on a higher pedestal as a result.
Playing for Time (1980)
Hard to swallow but amazing to watch
The movie is deep and haunting. It gives me the creeps. I can't feel confident saying it's an amazing movie because of the subject matter but, I really enjoyed the movie. It was well directed and beautifully covered the topic at hand. 10/10 would watch again!
