Mugen no jûnin: Immortal (2019)
Best adaptation yet!
Beautiful, inspiring and true to the historical era it depicts, it is obvious why Amazon picked this absolute gem up from Linden Films. Blade of the immortal goes to wonderfully dark places brings to light the frailty of human nature, while awing you with the humorous brutality of it's main character and the slight young woman for whom he fights. Disturbing and violent in the best of ways, the story will keep you coming back for more. Appreciable by those anime enthusiasts and new comers, do not miss this wonderful series!
When Darkness Calls (2019)
Great Ghost Hunters, Green filmmakers
If you really like paranormal shows, this will be right up your alley. These are not the usual excitable characters who scare themselves silly on popular programs that some may find entertaining. No screaming and running! There is however very little introduction, and you are thrown right into interviews and investigations.
They use the popular ghost hunting techniques and equipment like infrared cameras, "spirit boxes," various EMF devices and listening for words under the shuffling of their feet. They do have the usual issue that most investigators do, and those in their chosen profession: When you're a cop, all of your problems are criminals. So when you're a ghost hunter...
Confirmation biases aside, they do genuinely try to accumulate evidence and explain phenomena. They sincerely work to alleviate any worries their clients may have, and use traditional smudging methods to quell any continuing activity. Whether a placebo or effective cleansing, they seem to assuage the fears of haunted homeowners.
Being so new, they may yet improve their production quality, camera operation, and provide more information leading into their show, and I will keep watching. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.
