The Break-Up (2006)
An accurate analysis of a break-up
Even though this film is a comedy, I found it sad and slightly depressing as it reminded me of how people treat each other in a real relationship. The best about this movie is how good a job it does at dissecting the phases of a break-up on a psychological level. From the beginning, it hit straight on and touches the crucial points such as the actual cause of the break-up over a minor detail of everyday life (ex: who will do the washing up after dinner), but also the bad advise that they get from their friends and that they try to follow but makes them even unhappier. But there is a moral to the story and it ends on a positive and hopeful note which reminds us that we learn from our mistakes and if we had to do it again, we would do things a lot differently!
Click (2006)
OK, that was fun
I went to see this movie with no idea whatsoever what it was about or who the cast was! All I had was the title... "Click". The first good surprise was the cast. Adam Sandler is who he is and does what he does as the main character here, but other characters really livened up the movie. I was pleased to see Christopher Walken (a great performance) and many other familiar faces continued popping up throughout the movie. The story line is very predictable from beginning to end, but there are some fun twists and turns that makes this a fun movie to watch. I just wish the writer had somehow managed to create a more clever ending than the usual waking up from a dream trick. It is as if you just wait for him to wake up during the whole movie...
An Inconvenient Truth (2006)
The most meaningful movie I have seen this year
Every once in a while, Hollywood is not only here to entertain us, but also to educate us, and this movie is definitely the most meaningful I have seen this year.
I hope that many, many people in the world (and especially the United States) will go to see this inspiring feature and finally open their eyes to the reality of global warming and the negative consequences of their daily actions on our planet.
Some people say that watching this movie is very depressing, but on the contrary, I thought that Al Gore here passionately delivers a message and calls us to react immediately and positively to change our fate.
Los 2 lados de la cama (2005)
Funny, but disappointing
This movie was a huge box office success earlier this year in Spain, and given that success, I expected a little more out of it.
There were some very funny moments and the songs featured were great as they were all Spanish hit songs from the last few decades. All the songs were performed by the actors themselves. But I was disappointed by the plot, there just was not enough meat to fill the 108 min and the ending seemed unrealistic. It dragged a little too long and could have been cut 20 minutes shorter.
I have not seen the other movie EL OTRO LADO DE LA CAMA but I hear it was very good and much better than this one.
