Kijû shinseiki Zoid (2001)
The Best of the Best of Zoids
I have watched every episode of earlier Zoid series (Chaotic Century/Guardian Force) and later Zoid Series (Zoids Fuzors) and neither of them compare to the New Century Zero series(known as just "Zoids" in the US). Every episode features amazing battles, some goofy humor, and most importantly never leaves you bored or feeling like you just wasted thirty minutes of your life...well, no more then any other show will. Of all the anime I've seen with giant mech battles, this one pulls off epic-levels of combat without being over the top.
In comparison the other two series are a waste of time. Unlike Fuzors which forces you to wade through 13 bad episodes, and Chaotic Century which drags out the plot forever and then leaves you unsatisfied, this series keeps the action going at a regular pace, and unlike the more militaristic Chaotic Century series, the characters actually use strategy when fighting, making the fights more interesting then anything in its predecessor.
If you want to check out any of the Zoids Anime series, this is the one to look up first, or last if you want to save the best for last.
Knight Rider: Knight Rider (2008)
Now that's what I'm talking about!
It's far superior to the movie/pilot or the original series. This show takes a classic and does an amazing job at modernizing it for the 21st century without straying too far from the original premise but at the same time not imitating something that while it worked well some 15 or 20 years ago would need to be improved greatly to work today.
Unlike the pilot movie where things seemed too soft with little real danger. The original transformations have gone from simple repainting-like techniques to stuff that looks more mechanical and far cooler. Also, the dash lacks the clutter of the 1980's counterpart, which looked cool then, but would look like a second-rate sci-fi gimmick now.
The acting is also a great improvement over the original series as is the action, taking full advantage of having a super-car, unlike the original which used it as a gimmick. This time the action, acting, and everything else has been integrated together to create a show far superior to the original series. It should do well, if people give it a chance.
