Supernatural: The Devil in the Details (2016)
Very Good
This was a good episode. I like Rowena, but she made the stupidest decision ever. Of course Lucifer wasn't going to let her live. The guy who plays the devil is great and it was nice to see Billie again. Also Cass meets Amara and says yes to Lucifer. I wasn't expecting that. I wonder how that's going to play out.
Supernatural: O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2015)
Enjoyable
I enjoyed this episode. I liked the return of Lucifer. This episode also did a good job of making the audience understand that Amara is a legit threat. Up till now we've only heard about how powerful she is and in this episode we saw it first hand. I never thought God was sending Sam messages and I'm glad that plot thread was resolved.
Supernatural: Halt & Catch Fire (2015)
Stupid episode
This episode was so boring. I couldn't get invested in the plot at all. A ghost using the WiFi is an interesting concept, but this episode screwed it up. The dialogue was awful and the writing was lazy. I have to agree that the shows portrayal of college students was bad.
Doctor Who: 42 (2007)
It was okay
This episode's concept is great, but the execution was poor. This episode had a lot of cheesy moments. I couldn't take the primary antagonist seriously. I wanted to laugh every time they said "burn with me". It would've been better if it said nothing. The characters were unremarkable and looked ridiculous when they ran. I thought it was funny when the wife/captain tried to talk her husband down and he responded with "its your fault". Tennant aslo looked ridiculous when he was speaking with Martha through the airlock window. He yells way too much, it's annoying. The Doctor climbing out of the ship so close to a sun and surviving was illogical. All the face zones were overly dramatic and had me smiling. The best part was when Martha was talking to her mom in the escape pod, but the forehead kiss was gross. The other part I liked was when Martha was jettisoned into space. It was completely silent and the blue lighting was good. This episode was okay, but nothing I consider good.
Supernatural: Torn and Frayed (2013)
Good
This was entertaining and I wasn't bored. The use of the headset was interesting and the thought of tapping into an Angel's internal wiring was something worthy of exploration. I'm glad the Amelia storyline is over. I didn't see the purpose of their relationship and it just kind of fizzled out. Sam and Dean need to get over themselves and make amends. Them killing off Alfie made the whole episode pointless, since that was the plot. Other then that it was good.
Doctor Who: Blink (2007)
Great episode
This episode was great. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I was impressed with how well all the pieces fit together. The Weeping Angles were actually scary and the way Moffat used them was ingenious. I also liked how it was a Doctor light episode, introducing us to new interesting characters. The Doctor inserting himself into the 17 separate DVDs in order to interact with Sally using the transcript was clever. I also enjoyed the ending being clips of actual statues from around the world.
Doctor Who: The Lie of the Land (2017)
Disappointed
This episode was a letdown. It was very anticlimactic and kind of dull. The ending of a trilogy should be worth the wait. It should also have a nice resolution to the following two episodes. I'm surprised The Monks didn't keep Bill under surveillance, as she's vital to their plan and a close associate of the Doctor. I also thought it was odd that Bill didn't question the Doctor about regeneration. She most likely didn't know what that yellow glow was after she shot him and it's within her character to be curious. The parts I enjoyed the most were the emotional moments with Bill. However, using her mom as means to defeat the Monks felt like a cop out.
Doctor Who: Love & Monsters (2006)
Not good
I've heard so many bad things about this episode, but it's not as bad as Fear Her. I applaud the show for trying something different and I understand what they were going for. It's essentially a story about toxic fandom, but the execution of the episode doesn't work. I also get that it's suppose to be a silly episode, but if done right even silly episodes can be good. The look of the monster is terrible. I know it was selected from a children's contest, but come on. It's the responsibility of the director to make it work and he didn't. The joke the episode ends on is almost as bad as the monster itself. They really dropped the ball.
Doctor Who: New Earth (2006)
Okay
Out of all of the villains to bring back why Madam Cassandra? Having Cassandra inhabit the body's of the Doctor and Rose was cheesy and cringe inducing. Also The elements of the episode didn't mash. You have the campiness of Cassandra taking taking over the Doctor, mixed with the horror of people whose purpose in life is to be germ incubators. It's a jarring clash. I would've completely removed Cassandra from the script. This is not the best episode to lead with, at the time we were still trying to figure out the personality of the new Doctor. It took screen time away from his character. At least I wasn't bored.
Doctor Who: The Bells of Saint John (2013)
It was okay
This episode was a ripoff of The Idiot's Lantern, but done better. I liked the idea of people being downloaded into the WiFi. I also thought the reveal of the Great Intelligence was great. The only problem was Doctor Who so obviously stealing from itself.
Doctor Who: Fear Her (2006)
Boring
This episode was worse then The Idiot's Lantern, at least that one was entertaining in a bad way. This episode, however, was so dull. Drawings that come to life via aliens isn't the best concept. The child actress who played Chloe was horrible. Also, the Doctor appearing out of nowhere and picking up the torch was cheesy, "it's courage and it's love". The Olympic torch represents competition, not love. The only part I liked was the "fingers on lips" moment. It's a thing from primary school and it was hilarious.
Doctor Who: The Idiot's Lantern (2006)
Not good
This episode was so dumb. The Doctor and Rose looked ridiculous riding around on that moped and David Tennant's hair was terrible. The execution of the episode was poor and the tilted camera angles got old fast. Also, the acting from some of the guest cast made me cringe. The worst was the actress who portrayed The Wire. The way in which she kept repeating her lines was laughable. Additionally, the premise of the episode was not the best. I feel like David Tennant spits when he yells. This was my favorite line "There's no power on this Earth that can stop me!"😂 The ending was the worst. What were the writers thinking, having Rose send that kid back to his abusive father? At least the episode wasn't boring.
Doctor Who: The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe (2011)
Disappointing
This was a big disappointment. The plot contained little substance and it meandered a lot. This was also the first time I found Matt Smith grading. They made him too childlike and it began to get on my nerves. There was also a lot of slapstick humor that felt a little to immature, but I gave it a pass because this is a Christmas special. The concept of Mage being able to fly the mothership because she's a mother was so stupid. The ending also felt like a cop out.
Doctor Who: Let's Kill Hitler (2011)
That was jarring
This episode didn't really work for me. The main reason why was the introduction of Mels. Her being Amy and Rory's childhood friend didn't make sense. It felt jarring, out of place, and felt like a retcon. It wouldn't have felt this way if Mels was established earlier in the season or the last season. The Teselecta was a weird idea and didn't seem to fit inside the Doctor Who universe. A time traveling robot that can change its face, whose job is to punish people before they die felt off. Before watching The Wedding of River Song I didn't understand why the Teselecta was even in this episode. It's basically a plot function. River Song in this episode was also a little off putting. Her character came off as campy and over the top. There's a surprising lack of Hitler in a episode called "Let's Kill Hitler". Lastly, I didn't feel any emotional connection between Amy, Rory, and River.
Firefly: Safe (2002)
Good
This is the weakest episode of the season, not saying it's bad. The main problem I had with it was all the plot convinces. Other then that I enjoyed it. I liked how Simon and River's backgrounds were touched upon and their relationship with their parents explored. The mystery surrounding Brooke and the Captain's lines upon rescuing the siblings were the best parts. I also enjoyed the moment between Kaylee and Simon.
Firefly: Ariel (2002)
Fantastic episode
I liked how the crew infiltrated an Alliance hospital. We haven't seen a central planet before, so it was a nice change of scenery. It was also nice to see the Hands of Blue again, since we hadn't seen them since episode 2. They were actually threatening and the device they used to make people bleed seemed incredibly painful. I can't really find fault with this episode, but I didn't like it enough to give it a 10.
Firefly: The Message (2003)
Good
This was a solid episode. The message and the saying were really touching. I also really enjoyed the war flashbacks. The flashbacks gave Mal and Zoe additional character layers. The only problem I had was how stupid Tracy was, but that was to be expected.
Firefly: Out of Gas (2002)
Great
This was the best episode of the season. I was very impressed. The transitions between past and present were flawless. I also felt a certain dread the whole episode. I was constantly worried about Mal, even though I knew he was going to be fine. Also, the episode's structure was perfect. The only problem was how easily Mal was able to get the other crew off his ship.
Supernatural: Blood Brother (2012)
Good
This was a good episode. I liked how it expanded on Benny's character and showed that he and Dean are actually friends. Vampires using boats to hunt was also interesting and slightly clever. The only problem I had was with the flashback transitions. This episode, like the previous ones have Sam and Dean staring off into the middle distance. There're better and more seamless ways to flash backwards.
Doctor Who: The Doctor's Wife (2011)
Great episode
One of the best episodes of season 6. In theory the concept of the TARDIS inhabiting a human body shouldn't work, but it does. I loved the interactions between Idris and the Doctor. The scene where she says hello/goodbye was very touching. The actress who played her was great. Also, House was a decent threat and very sinister. I wouldn't mind watching this episode again.
Doctor Who: The Wedding of River Song (2011)
Worst season finale
This was the most disappointing season finale of New Who. I liked the idea of time disintegrating, but everything else was a letdown. The Doctor using the Teselecta to escape his own death felt like a cop out. Steven Moffat wrote himself into a hole and had no idea how to get out of it. The concept of the astronaut suit made no sense. If it could move freely, as indicated by it taking control of River Song, then why did she need to be in it in the first place? Furthermore, how was she able to drain the weapons system? Also, how did the Doctor marrying her fix time? After Amy and Rory's departure in the God Complex I can't figure out why they were brought back for this one, since they didn't really do anything. I wish we could've gotten a 2 parter finale like usual. Though, it was fun to see the return of characters from last season.
Doctor Who: The Curse of the Black Spot (2011)
Lame
This is the weakest episode of the season. There was a lot of inconsistencies and the second half of the episode was far worse then the first. I liked the idea of a siren, but then we realized it was a virtual doctor instead. Was I the only one who thought that was stupid? Why did the siren let the original crew members of the spaceship die, especially since It went out of its why to preserve the humans? Also, why would a virtual doctor wear a evening gown? How many times are they going to kill Rory and bring him back? This episode was a big letdown, but at least it was entertaining.
Doctor Who: Cold War (2013)
Meh
I liked the idea of the episode taking place in a confined space. I also liked the subtle homage to Aliens, with the claustrophobic spaces and flashing lights. The only major problems I had with it was the concept of the Ice Warrior and it's immediate decision to start a world war. Also, how stupid was that crew member that thawed the Ice Warrior? Nobody with common sense would do that.
Supernatural: Stairway to Heaven (2014)
Good
This was a good episode overall. The only major problem I had with it was how they handled the angels. I also thought it was odd that they brought Tessa back only to have her commit suicide. The ending was great.
Supernatural: #thinman (2014)
Meh
It was nice to see the Ghostfacers again, but did they really have to do a parody of Slender man? That's the main reason I gave this episode a 7. The overall concept fell short. Did Ed and Harry really have to have a failing out? Everyone is miserable this season. I would like a lighthearted episode please.
