Systrabönd (2021)
if you crave depression then this is the perfect stuff
Yet another TV series that first and foremost reflect this problem with scriptwriting here in Iceland.
I have the feeling that the length of the TV series was "fixed size" from the beginning, and the rest was this painful attempt to keep the actors doing, just something..fill up the boxes...
So I found it to be dull first and foremost and extremely unimaginative in addition to often stiff conversations and a large number of pointless scenes. And it's sad because this was not a low budget production, many of our finest artists, fantastic filming backgrounds...but a script thats like a mixed soup of ides that never took off, left nothing but depression, and simply un-professional writing for professional artists...
Meikar Ekki Sens: Meikar Ekki Sens (2020)
Waste of time
Icelandic comedy tends to fail first and foremost in the scriptwriting, even the best show's like Fóstbræður who ran for 5 seasons offered it's share of fill-up content but it was easy to forgive while their outstanding material is still popular on Youtube 20 years later. I was actually very pleased when I got the news about this new sketch show here in Iceland but wow what a flop this is. It's obvious from the first minutes that those boys didn't have clue about what to do in front of the cameras and the result is a silly mixture of silliness. So once again we see an Icelandic TV station invest their resources to unknown performers who in this case get 6 episodes to play around some without any professional actors and scriptwriters. I do strongly support the idea to give young people the change to make their own stuff and go for it with pro-Tv crew in the backhand, but to invest the limited funds available for this product category, to 6 episodes of unknown talents is topping the silliness. I really don't think it's a good idea to allow this to happen and it would have been best to offer them the chance to make one episode, and give others the change for the same so this series could be used to discover talents instead of push no talents at us the TV viewers. I'm just sad how terrible waste of money this production is, a new low point in Icelandic TV comedy.
Pabbahelgar (2019)
Too long and terrible writing
It was meant to be a drama/comedy but it's just all drama and even weak as such. 6x 45min episodes of a woman in her daily routine after divorce, long boring scenes .....perhaps the worst and writing I have ever seen in major TV show in Iceland and waist of time.
