The Fall Guy (2024)
Is it a comedy nope because not funny
I still don't know how I sat through this , is it a comedy nope because the occasional laugh isn't nearly enough , is it an action movie , nope because it tries to hard to be a comedy. What was it to me , really bad romantic movie that would certainly do well with the Eurovision Song Contest audience ( hope that even makes sense for the Americans reading this ) Is the acting any good , nope , well maybe if the acting is supposed to look bad, then they were brilliant.
I expected something as good as Bullet Train but it doesn't even come close . Okay the stunts are great and I just love Emily Blunt , only reasons I'm giving this a 4 star.
Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024)
Not what I expected
First of all I would really like to know what audience they had in mind , children, teens or adults , it's like they couldn't make up their mind.
I'm watching this because I just love fantasy especially with nowadays cgi , but it's the only reason I am still watching after 2 episodes . Don't know if it's the actors or the script , but I have no feelings at all for the characters . Every line they say is as if they are giving a speech instead of just talking , and I'm really fed up with Aang saying "I am the Avatar"for the 100th time.
The cgi is fantastic though , great scenes , and the fighting is also well done.
I'll keep watching , mainly because of hope it will get better.
The Batman (2022)
What a long sit for such a tedious movie.
I was expecting to be entertained at least , maybe even expecting a good movie . Boy was I wrong , tedious , slow , boring , non creative and most of all predictable scenes. Nothing happens what you can't see coming from miles away. And the end scene is a bad comedy, one of the most disappointing movies I've seen in a long while . Even the action scenes are like they've been made 40 years ago . Seems like they used the darkness to cover up how badly this movie was made. What a waste of time. I have no idea why this is getting a lot of 10's , must be the first movie these people have gone to in 20 years. I'm giving it a five because I was in good company and I sat through the whole movie.
Outer Banks (2020)
Teenagers can't be that stupid
I actually liked season 1, and I'm giving season 2 a 7 because it entertained me a bit . But wow, if American teenagers were really this stupid , what a disaster . At times it's hard to keep watching because of the stupidity , everyone can make a mistake or do something they regret , but this show is nothing but endless stupid ideas , mistakes and saying it can't get any worse so what the heck let's do something even more stupid.
Joker (2019)
Superb acting doesn't make this a 10
Phoenix is superb , some of the best acting I have ever seen, but it can't hide the tedious pace of 2/3s of the movie. I don't understand the hype of the 10 reviews , and at the same time don't understand the people that walked out on it . It's a good movie with splendid acting and at times a bit boring.
The 100: What You Take with You (2019)
Getting worse by the episode
Are we supposed to be feeling empathy for the characters in the show that most of us would have liked to have died many episodes , maybe even seasons ago . The last few episodes I have only watched because I have come too far to end watching now. Please leave all the sentimental cr.p away, nobody is watching this series for it , we all just want it to end in some action filled horrible way.
Hellboy (2019)
You've got to be kidding
This is up there with Black Panther to being the worst Superhero movie ever. The plot is crummy , the jokes are to predictable, the acting is the worst part , it's as if they're reading from an autocue. And then there's this attempt to put as many demons and monsters into one movie as is possible, the only real joke.
You would have to be a die hard Hellboy fan to give this a good rating, apparently there are a lot of those.
Black Sails: XXXVIII. (2017)
Worst ever final of a series
For 37 episodes I have enjoyed Black Sails only to be let down by the final episode. Seems as if the producers , writers , directors etc. all decided to end this series the easiest and cheapest way out . Out of the blue it's over and done for . Why build up to a final , when the final is not there. Never have I been so disappointed with a series I liked so much.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)
Waste of time, could have been better if shorter
My friends and I go to the Cinema almost every week , all 3 loved LotR, all 3 thought this movie was a waste of time , literally a waste of time on account of the first hour , nothing happening at all. We watched it in 48fps 3D, maybe that was the mistake, never had the feeling we were watching a movie , more like the making of. The worst part imho were the attempts at humor , all the clichés you could think of and brought in a very bad way.
I'm not gonna say this was a bad movie , if they had brought it down to 2 hours it would have been a reasonable movie, but it doesn't even come close to LotR. Maybe expectations were to high , but Jackson really let us down.
Falling Skies (2011)
Mediocre getting worse
Maybe we are spoiled by series like Game of Thrones, but you would think every series brought out in this day and age would at least have a basic level of entertainment. I am a Sci-Fi and Fantasy fan and so I watch every new episode hoping it will at least get back to a mediocre standard, but alas, along with the mediocre acting, lack of creativity the show has now gone to a pace that it will take forever for something to happen. Plus the love stories and other sentimental boring stuff are really making this worse by every episode. I am now at the point that I record an episode so I can speed through some of the gooey parts. Unless the producers wake up very soon I foresee a sudden end to this series.
Quantum of Solace (2008)
Just an action movie and not even a good one
Why they call this a Bond movie beats me, if 007 hadn't been in the title no one would have known it was a Bond. Even a hardened Bond could still have been a gentleman, and yes that Bond doesn't get out of a fight without a scratch wasn't natural , but neither is the way he gets out of the fights this time. And worst of all , where are the gadgets, where is the humor and sarcasm. No, its not a Bond and thanks to the awful camera work its not even a good action movie. Its impossible to follow a fight because someone thought that camera-work should be reinvented. The lighting is at best called a poor job. This could be the end to the success for Bond movies.
Costa! (2001)
Forget all your sorrows
Actually the only reason I wanted to see this was Georgina Verbaan the hottest girl to hit the screens, just wait till the rest of the world sees her. Now if you're looking for a flick with depth, dialogues and great acting forget this, but if you want to come out of a cinema with a feeling of "hey lets go and have some fun cause I feel great"then this is your movie. Lots of speed, romance, good looking actors and actresses who will have you smiling all the time.
The Score (2001)
One of the worst ever !
I went to see this (I just can't call it a movie because it didn't move and it certainly didn't move me ) with a friend, I managed to sit through the thing where as my friend left halfway. So I saw the 10 minutes of it that were almost worth the sit, almost. I wish I had left too. The story just drags along. Why de Niro played in it I don't know , it was not worthy of him. I saw some people write in their comment that Norton played a good role, why is it that anytime anybody plays a person with a handicap be it real or not , everybody starts raving about how good they were? There was a huge advertising campaign for The Score in Holland, the only one's that scored were the movie people.I only lost the money to go to a better movie, witch is not hard to find. A positive remark...... it was better then....Escape from L.A. oh and police Academy 2-13.
Josie and the Pussycats (2001)
Fun and laughter along with some great music.
I like a movie that gives you that "I can take on the whole world feeling"and even if Josie And The Pussycats isn't one of the greatest movies of all time it does give me that feeling.I'm a big fan of Rachael but I have to admit it was the joy in Tara's role that did it. And I also like the serious message in the movie, for aren't we being manipulated all the time. The movie wasn't in dutch cinemas so I had to get it on DVD ( to my surprise I got it the same day it was released in the US ). I would have liked some more extras on it like pictures or maybe 1 or 2 tracks from the album. But all in all it was worth my guilders.
