The Beekeeper (2024)
Wow, a lesser Leon, The Professional movie
I never watch Jason Statham movies but kept seeing scenes on tiktok so decided to watch it. BTW, I am a 74 year old white woman from Los Angeles and not really into these movies, mainly because they are badly made.
Years ago I rented The Professional and watched it many times over a weekend with my family. It is still one of my favorite movies. I recommend that any who have not seen it, to see it now. You will not be disappointed.
There are a number of scenes in The Beekeeper that are almost an exact copy of The Professional. Most of the movie is not.
Despite how badly this is made and how bad the acting is, I am still getting a kick out of it. And despite my low rating, I still recommend it
I don't want to go into specifics of similarities to The Professional, as I don't want to give away any spoilers but I am sure most people can figure out how it might end anyway.
Telemarketers (2023)
I think my family fell for this!!!!
I live in Southern California. Years ago in the mid to late1990s my then husband somehow was contacted by the local police department. I don't know if by mail or phone call. He was asked to donate some money via this organization that contacted him. He probably gave $20.00. He was then contacted each year to donate, which he did and it was always about $20.00. He was always excited to do this as our city has a great police department. We had some police situations over the years and they were very helpful to us, catching the bad guys and throwing them in jail and we wanted to support them. A few years later we divorced. I recall getting mail and calls from the same organization. I didn't donate as was a bit poor and it was his thing anyway. They stopped calling.
Now, after watching this documentary, I wonder if it was a scam. I will never know.
Chicago Med: Does One Door Close and Another One Open? (2021)
10 stars for Will being gone
As with the other 2 reviewers, Will was the worst written character. I am not sure about the actor either. Also no hospital would let this crap happen. He is now meeting up with Natalie who was almost as insufferable as Will at times. They really deserve each other. 😀. I am curious to see who they bring on next year. I watch Chicago Med out of some sort of loyalty to Dick Wolf. I actually think either getting rid of Chicago Med or revamping it entirely so that it is a bit more realistic would be best. I would love to see a medical show where there are more than a few doctors. ER was successful doing that. Hopefully the massive cringe will stop.
FBI: God Complex (2023)
This hit close to home
In 1949 my mother was pregnant with twins and had to have a c-section, I believe 6-8 weeks early. She had fallen recently which may have been the cause for the early birth. My family is Jewish and we were at a local hospital, a catholic hospital. My mom's OB doctor told my dad that the nun/nurses would concentrate on saving the babies while, he, the doctor would concentrate more on my mother if there was to be a choice. Well fortunately no choice had to be made as we all did well. My sister spent 4 weeks in an incubator and I was there 5 weeks. I wish I could have met the OB but never did
It should be noted his name was Dr. J E. MIRACLE. 😀
Perry Mason: Chapter Fourteen (2023)
Incorrect idiom use
Season 2, episode 6 used the idiom, "smoking gun". The show is set in the1930s. This idiom was1st used in 1974. This is another example of writer laziness. Very annoying. I just made the same complaint for a different idiom in A Spy Among Friends. I assume the writers for both are trying to pander to younger generations by using a newer idiom rather than find one that is correct for the time period. Yes, I am a boomer so know more , in a lot of ways, due to just being around. But, please, please, do proper research. Also I have to use a minimum of 600 words, so am really, really trying to stretch this out.
A Spy Among Friends: Snow (2022)
A newer idiom misused
In episode 6, Snow, an idiom first used in 1985 was used in this episode, which takes place in the early 1960s. I don't understand why the writer did not do the proper research. I have seen this in many shows/movies, where more recent terms are used in scenarios from times in the past. Very annoying. I have not much else to say but need a minimum of 600 words. As I said I like this show, I have always liked Guy Pearce and Damian Lewis. The writer(s) do a big disservice to the actors with these mistakes as well as to the viewers. It makes me think they pander to Millennials, Gen Z and those born in the 2000s.
The Rookie: Feds (2022)
Why this show is not doing well
I just realized why I don't like this show. I do like the actors and characters but the difference between this and The Rookie is that the main character, a new FBI agent, knows everything, is never wrong and bosses all her bosses around. She is an extremely annoying character. In The Rookie, Nolan, as a Rookie, did get things wrong and right, is respectful and his supervisors treated him as the Rookie he was abd as the officer he is now. This is not to say Tge Rookie is never silky but it is not every episode.
The Rookie Feds needs to change and not be so ridiculous. Niecy Nash's character must he humble at some time and her bosses must be in charge all the time.
Grey's Anatomy (2005)
I can't believe I feel compelled to continue watching this damn show
I just watched reruns of the last, then the first of ER which was an amazing show, setting the standard for all medical show that followed including Grey's Anatomy. GA is so stupid, yet I continue to watch. Oh well.
Law & Order: The Right Thing (2022)
If I could rate it 0 I would
I was so looking forward to seeing the return of Law and Order. This first new episode was so, so, so bad. The actor playing the new detective was so wooden, similar for the DA and his assistant. Sam Waterston was a disappointment as well. Pretty much none of the actors seemed to care. The script was boring. I hope it gets better but not counting on it. There seemed to be no emotion as evidenced by the wooden acting.
Being the Ricardos (2021)
Terrible movie
This was so boring, terrible writing and Nicole Kidman was unwatchable. Javier Bardem really sounded like Desi so was a pleasure when he was on screen. The recreation of little bits of scenes from various shows was a nice touch, I recalled all of them. But they could not make up for this snoozefest.
Red Notice (2021)
Boring
I thought this would going to be a fun movie. But, unfortunately, it was just really boring. I gave up after about 20-30 minutes. I actually liked Dwayne and Ryan but the other actors, not so much. The initial action sequences almost put my sister and me to sleep.
Ma Barker's Killer Brood (1960)
I can't forget this movie which I saw 62 years ago
I saw this with my family as a surprise studio preview to get reviews from the public. I was10 years old and this was in Burbank, CA. It was shocking to me then but I now know it was pretty campy. But Mr. Barker's killing was the worst for me. I think my parents were pissed off but we stayed through to the end.
FBI: International (2021)
Not so good
Some CV pretty people who can't act. Going just by the pilot the quality is much lower than the other 2 shows.
Law & Order: Organized Crime: What Happens in Puglia (2021)
Law and order reminds me of another Wolf show
I felt a distinct style
connection to Chicago PD, thus was disappointed as not excited about that show. I will continue to watch and hope it gets better.
