Jack Ryan: Falcon (2022)
Pretty poorly written, Darkly shot, just about got through it but there are a lot better ways to waste eight hours...
Average at best...lot of action chunks that were shot in the dark and difficult to watch, a script was a little cardboard, plot flaws based on geography that even a risk board could prove was twaddle, baddies that were lacking at least one dimension, an ending felt really clumsily done, and there was something in the way they use UHD that at times feels great, but too often felt gratuitous and almost made me feel nauseous. Love Wendell pierce but there was little else that I could genuinely rate it for... feels like Amazon are desperately trying to squeeze content out at the moment ... this isn't going to win them any new customers (or at leat I hope not).
The Lincoln Lawyer (2022)
Hmmm... elements of good but elements of really really bad
I've not quite finished it.... Had some hopes as it's a David e Kelly thing.... It's not awful... there were some twists that kept me guessing and the main characters are ok, but episode 9 nearly made me stop viewing, clunky script, acting so bad it undermined the whole thing... yes not totally awful, yes, plot ok, just wonder how some of the leady writing got through..:
The Last Duel (2021)
Utter tosh
I was expectant, Damon, and Affleck combined with Ridley Scott, and the supremely talented Jodie comber... what couldn't be great?
Characters that were two dimensional, all completely dislikable, left me completely disinterested, given, the tedious story telling made it worse.... I don't know what they were thinking when they scripted this, who told them it was working, and how anyone reviewing this has given it any kind of score. It's absolutely shoddy... I almost left several times, and when I got to the end of the film, poor script, dull story telling, lifeless characters, it's a waste of two and a half hours....
Frontier (2016)
Mediocre... only way change if you're in lockdown
Yes, Jason 'Mamosa is in it.... he punches and grunts his way through six episodes, playing the outlaw hero, surrounded by more heaving cleavage than you can shake a stick at. The acting is shockingly bad in places, so too is the script and the storyline. It reminds me of black sails without the humour, storyline and great characters.... if you haven't watched that do so before you watch this... and if you're really really bored, with nothing to do, and you are still locked in... this nights just about be worth giving a go...
The Highwaymen (2019)
Mediocre
Difficult to get through in one sitting. It's bonnie and Clyde through the eyes of their hunters. You never really get to see any of bonnie and Clyde until they're full of bullets (sorry about the spoiler). Watching a thriller without seeing the bad guys was like watching a football game when you only get to see one of the teams... the tension never really built, I was never really engaged. Surprisingly (to me at least) I didn't really find the combination of harrelson and Costner delivered much tho I did have a few flashbacks to Costner as Elliot Ness in the Untouchables which is a much much much better movie. I wouldn't watch this unless you're pretty bored.... not awful, just meh....
