Funny, though not necessarily Sherlockian
31 July 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Even though I didn't particularly care for the Lockness Monster or the portrayal of Mycroft, this movie made me laugh. The beginning was especially enjoyable because of well... "Watson is my glass of tea" and "Yes, you are being presumptuous." Funny, though not necessarily Sherlockian. I felt that the mystery was filled with random clues and that was true to Doyle's style. However, the final outcome was somewhat of a let down... would have liked it if the boat was not governmental. Mycroft made it clear when talking to Sherlock. And Holmes' brother did not look or act like the original Mycroft. Watson was great, in my opinion! Holmes was a bit less cold than the Holmes in the stories. Nevertheless, I really liked this movie and was smiling all the way through.

Kyle XY (2006–2009)

Surprisingly Addictive!
25 July 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I am not one to get "addicted" to television shows, but "Kyle XY" is a show that one would get addicted to! Kyle's narration is beautiful and intriguing, giving the otherwise science-fictional program an uniquely personal touch. Kyle is like a newborn... and one truly feels like one is inside of a child's mind. The mystery is the other aspect of the show that draws one in. Why doesn't Kyle have a belly-button? Who is the lurking man? Why is he so smart and possess other seemingly superhuman abilities? Why can't he remember the answers to all of these questions? Mix "24," "X Files," "Seventh Heaven," and a little something extra, and you've got "Kyle XY."
