Accidentally rented this movie
16 March 2008
This is bad. BAD movie. I didn't realize the Block Buster had section for B Movies.

I agree that actors were not at fault with this. Problem is, they tried to make up low budget with CGI. The writer should be sent back to writer school. I felt it was written with little understanding what they were writing about. Battleship's handling submarines? American's using Russian Nuclear Submarines?

Kookie billionarie, wants nuke the world and make them live under the seas in ruins of a ancient civilization, thinking hiding under the sea is after destroying surface of the planet will result in better society? Unless your one those people who see this film as potential movie to use old Mystery Science Theater 3000 dialog. Stay away from this film, its not worth the rental. Maybe laugh at writer's cheap gimmick movie.

Juno (2007)

Juno great comedy and social movie about relationships
15 December 2007
I took my gf to this movie, it was great.

The movie struck me as it dug into my psychie movie on how you perceive the world and the relationships we have. Not everything is what it seems. The director/write did great job putting this together, from the cast to dialog story itself. Emotional roller-coaster that Juno has to go thru, dealing with issues which would not normally be dealt with with her tender age.

Only quirks i though were little unusual, was Juno herself was incredibly rare. A girl, 16 into so many old old rockin roll (1970s) and pop culture things stuck me being cool but high unlikely. However, its still movie not suppose to be dead on. Specially in comedy.

Great movie, sharp pop-cultured dialog and great story telling. Anyone who isn't up on the their pop-culture however, maybe thrown off by the dialog and not understand whats people are talking about.

Epic Movie (2007)

Waste of time
4 February 2007
I can't believe they thought this movie was worth producing. It maybe the number 1 in box office, doesn't make it a good movie. Just a lot people who thought it was 21st Century's version of Airplane (type parody). Sorry, I think pop culture spoofing of other movies are generally good when its actually done with someone who actually has talent in writing funny things.

That was simply a stupid filler movie with bits for 2007. With very few bits that were funny enough to smirk. I've seen TV original comedy movies, like example Men in White, being funnier than this train wreck of a movie. It could be just sign of me getting old, but only people generally laughing in theater was teenagers who properly haven't seen a decent comedy movie before.

Good Family and basic lightweight Comedy
23 December 2006
I and my girlfriend wanted to see a nice comedy. We got it.

This isn't like the heavy, edgier comedies that have come out within last couple years. This is a mice and balance comedy, that isn't too wishy washie for people whom don't care for "bland" comedies.

Stiller is top notch for the father and everyday man. A lot surprises and funny moments for kids and adults alike. Its nice seeing him play the straight man for once. With all his Edgier/"dare i say stupid" comedy movies he's done in the past. This was certainly nice change pace.

Good Flick, lite plot, but don't get too picky. Take as it is.

Its heck of nice advertising movie for museums and history!

Old Fashion Kind of Movie
22 November 2006
This was great movie, little goofy for some people.

Bringing the (semi-fictional) Radio Show's last night on the air to life was wonderful. Such great cast with great chemistry.

I think Kevin Kline's sense humor was bit over the top, but his character fin with the unusual cast. With improving seem to make it better.

I think its was good ending to Mr. Altman's career. I wish he was able to continue "rebeling" as he did in this film. Against the big movie companies that made movies just another product and not something better or more.

Old & forgotten cartoon show that Cars (Movie -2006) resembles
29 August 2006
This was one the many quaint and amusing cartoon shows produced in the 70s. The art was so-so, among 2nd to the last American made cartoons.

I watched this show as it was aired on its Saturday morning cartoon slot. (yes i am old.)

One of the lesser known things about this show is that character known as Chopper (voiced by Frank Welker) seem to carry-on beyond this show. Chopper (aka a talking, winter hat wearing chopper motorcycle) and leader of gang had this particular speak-problem. A lisp when he talked that sounded like a mechanical "cha-pa" kind noise, sounding like a motor sputter. This was some how carried over to the a early 1990s cartoon character in show named "Bonic Six" and again character's name was Chopper.

The 2006 Pixar movie, Cars, has strong resemblance to this old cartoon.

Muppets Tonight (1996–1998)
2nd Short life of Muppets on Television
2 April 2006
The Muppets Tonight was 1st serious attempt to make a dedicated television show for the Muppets. It was different, and it had potential. The guest stars of amazing quality, and new spin on how original Muppet Show was done.

However, it had to deal with changed world. After 2 brief seasons, Oklahoma City bombing accrued. Which rattled America, and it was key factors of the cancellation of the this young and potential show. The episode which was to be are, if memory services right few weeks after the bombing, introduced an old character. Crazy Harry, one of the Muppet show's original characters, a mad bomber. Television executives made the decision that this was too much and too soon after the Oklahoma bombing, so the squashed the episode.

Later entire show was squashed. America changed, it became hyper sensitive about its viewing content on Television. Thus, Muppet Tonight one of its very first victims. Disney owned show transferred the show to its Disney Channel and it quietly shown in reruns for short while and died. Creative of the Muppets had been lost with the passing of Henson, thus no new motivations to push keep the new show going and being original as "Show" was. This is a private view, but I believe is the correct one. As of that date of this review. No new original Muppet oriented material has come out since Muppets Tonight. Only re-has, redo, television movies and Direct to video material.

Pre-OVA Summary
25 March 2006
Shadow Chronicles is a relaunch of the US Robotech Animated TV Series.

The movie/OVA deals with events that accrued on last episode of its "third" series. A key character from old series, Scott Bernard, leaving his beloved "Marlene/Ariel" begin the search of giant warship named SDF-3. By joining the surviving ships of the Robotech Expedition Force to discover what happened to the Invid and SDF-3.

From what has been printed about this OVA, it is a modified story based on the Robotech novel "End of the Circle" which was suppose to be the completion of the original series in printed form.

This is the strongest attempt to produce a actual sequel to the series. Previous attempt, Robotech II: The Sentinels (1986) which failed to be completely produced due to production cost changes between Japan & USA.

Sentinels was published in Novel form as well in form of a successful comic book series till it was canceled in mid-90s by Harmony Gold.

Thou it is high quality, i do not think its as good as the original series. I know its tough act to follow. However, the CGI does not blend well with hand drawn animation.

Doctor Who (2005–2022)
Different Doctor
25 March 2006
Well, was lucky to have seen the series before it came to USA and i think its not too bad.

I grew up on watching later doctor who series with Tom Baker and successors.

I think people maybe bit too critical at the moment. Christopher Eccleston is only actor, but he chose how to play his role he knew historically was going be different from those played it before him.

Series, canon is completely different universe. Timelords are dead. The Doctor has no nemesis who just as crafty and as intelligent as he is.

I do think series needs branch out and try exploring again. Freshing out the series is something to has to be done. Now Christopher Eccleston is no longer the doctor. Maybe the writers will allow character to take on different persona. If any old Dr. Who fans remember, each time he generates a different personality quirks had come up.

Also, a lot people forgetting. Show has to keep the attention of the young generations. It has to be relevant to current popular trends since it show more expensive to produce and harder to keep kids attention span. It not just for the Generation X anymore! It sounds like a lot people want to resume the where the old series left off.

I don't think its going to happen. Slow stories seldom survive on short-attention span television anymore. Which is unfortunate, but i believe is true.

I do hope those series will survive long enough to satisfy & entertain everyone it was intended for.

Vin Diesel can act!
17 March 2006
This was not what i had expected from hearing of the film. I'm not big on mafia or crime based movies. However, this was certainly brilliantly executed story. Vin Diesel is very good at putting himself into the soul of the person he was portraying in this film. It shows, he was convincing in his part of this film.

Not everyday, you can actually want this case go well for the defendant. It is specially when it was true case about people who were in very well in within term "bad people".

However, Vince show that his character despite all his flaws. Meant what he says that "I love ya u guys" and about "family" in real sense of the word. He was very good in his role, along with rest of the supporting cast members. I hope that this film gets the support it deserves and people will give it chance.

GXP Good Show
29 August 2005
I'm picking up the show these last few months. I've found it to be nice knee slapping (funny) show. The show hearkens back to the original's concept of putting characters in silly social situations. However they do take themselves seriously. Near latter part of the series, it does start to come apart become bit too silly fighting Yamata's nasty bad luck.

If you compare this show with too the newly release Tenchi Muyô!Ryo OhKI (season 2) which has been released in Summer of 2005. (not even on the IMDb yet of this writing.) The GXP is still a better series in comparison. Makers of newest Tenchi Muyô! OVA (This is resumption of the original OVA series from 1992.) draw heavily from the GXP be series success and story events to reinforce resuming of Tenchi Muyô! OVA series. However, its crappier in comparison to GXP. CGI at times is spotty, English voice acting is not as good, missing key voices and bad choices of replacements.

GXP's is a tighter ship, if not for its flaws beyond episodes 17+.

Excellent series, a very re-watchable Scifi comedy series!!!

Four Brothers (2005)
10/10
Good old fashion butt kicking movie
14 August 2005
Now this is a Rate-R movie that lives up to its rating! It seems to be lost genre thou. Without giving anything way, this is a tough guy movie about 4 "brothers" who've come home to bury their mother. A gold hearted mother who adopted all of them, when no one in world would.

What thought, this movie has "balls" it does stuff you won't normally see or conceive done on silver screen anymore. Its ultra violent at times and others it has humor you'd find among family. It has some unbelievable parts, such as big villain, but its played will enough, you won't mind seeing revenge on this turd. Its a good ugly action movie, with black humor thrown in. Its refreshing to me, since i hardly get into this kind of particular kind of movie. Also, its not as predictable, which i find refreshing. If you want something that not too stupid, and unbelievable, but at same time not soft in way its done. I'd try this out and enjoy the ride it gives you.

Steamboy okay Anime film
2 April 2005
I was fortunate to get to watch this fine film.

I didn't bother with the English language, which don't want a limited translation of the film.

Katsuhiro Ôtomo is really sharp in the animation, the blending cgi and the traditional animation was splendidly done.

However the story was not constructed better, first half was great, building to something...however it fell into the old traditional anti-war mentality. Its a good take on old Pulp fiction/serial comics, specially with the end credits where they show the further adventures of Steamboy.

It a shame, Katsuhiro Ôtomo did brush up on his story telling techniques.

Interesting Movie
8 January 2005
This movie was something i hadn't expected. When i saw it advertised, i thought it was going to be a cornball of a movie. I was wrong.

Its a surreal experience to say the least, emotional journey for Bill Murray's character Steve Zissou. How he deals with craziness that thrown at him. Steve isn't smartest apple in the tree, but he has a lot heart. The supporting cast for this movie is very strong, with some famous character actors, stars you hadn't seen in a long time along with some unknowns. You'll be drawn into the movie.

I would say thou the movie as a whole won't be it, without Bill Murray, he's the heart of this film makes it breath.

If there was comparison of experience, i'd have refer to the (1984) The Hotel New Hampshire. Thou this movie by far superior to Hotel, but the way events accrued and how it ends. It DOES remind me of that film.

Go see it, go rent it, see it for yourself. Its nice ride if you like a movie with unexpected twists and turns and ending no one see's coming.

Robotech: Invasion (2004 Video Game)
Disappointment
1 January 2005
Well, i am what you would call a hardcore fan of the television show and did enjoy the first game "Battlecry".

This game was departure from the cell style animation they used to render the vehicles and the people.

This is story of the Invid Invasion, which is referred to as the "New Generation" saga. Returning Robotech forces, return after 20 year deep-space mission to secure the planet from further invasion. Mistake one, they failed.

The game is based around the usage of the emergency back vehicle, referred in the series as Cyclon Rider. Which is a motorcycle that converts around the rider into battle armor. Which is in fact pretty nifty thing, but this was done with CGI and not didn't come out as well the creators had hoped. Not doing the cell style animation like previous game was first mistake, making it a first shooter limiting you to the usage of the motorcycle. Was another "mistake" in my point of view. It lack flexibility of being able to enjoy all the aspect that this particular segment of the Robotech Universe had to offer.

It was render with big maps, but your stuck going through the game's sequence of events. The story is very well thought out, but maybe confusing for new people to the Robotech genre.

If they manage to find the game good enough to try again, i hope they learn from lessons of this game and listen to the fans next time they do something like this!

Robotech: Battlecry (2002 Video Game)
A good game for a good franchise
1 January 2005
This was based on the original adapted Robotech series that aired in the mid-1980s. This particulars game was based on first portion of the series referred to as the Marcross Saga.

This is a side-story, unfortunately not a canon story. Since its conception and its numerous rebirths (no. of Comic Book series, games and novels) only the original story from television show was considered canon.

However, the game limiting and darn right frustrating at times. Thou the ending is not to be expected, (which is something i personally like.) the game seems to be brutally harder than you would expect and shame your not allowed other 'mecha show in the series and game. (Destroids, etc.)

Robotech (1985)
The Anime Saga of the 80s
1 January 2005
Well, what can be said? First step for a lot of kids when this originally aired into a more mature anime world.

This was the first, that took itself seriously and was not censored by the relentless attacking parent groups out there who try dumb down anything that may seen as violent or potentially harmful to children.

Well, they missed this one for long time and damn well happy they did. It was story about human race being finally forged into one people instead of divided nations. War without happy ending in may sense. A Drama that shows all faces of humanity facing inhuman forces from beyond. Which in may ways, did not know what they were doing as well.

It puts a very big spin on anti-war, despite the conflict, glamorization of giant robots which i am a fan of. However its a hardcore story that with original writers of Japan and the American adapters trying make it work on American Television...before the television Der-regulations started to take away the independent television stations. This show was the thing to watch.

Thou now it is a very affordable DVD, its may seem to a lot of purist that its is a rip off of another anime and its seems to be hacked up. This maybe bit crude...However, for those who had NOTHING but few scant shows (Starblazers, Force Five (For those who've heard of it!), Galaxy Rangers and even Transzor Z) I say to you, this was godsend and should be given a second look. This was NOT a goofy, far fetch show that has bubblegum style (unbelievable, trying hard not explain itself or take seriously) This was serious hardcore television show that was a true Story-book on TV, precursor to shows that came after it like EXO-Squad or more common Sci-fiction show....Babylon 5. This was Anime-Mech show that put generation on notice that there more to animation then goofy silly stuff. Starblazers started this in American (Maybe Gundam but i've never seen it when i was growing up), Robotech took America by the balls and kept its attention for least a decade!

Great Game of its Time
18 December 2004
When Arcade games ruled, this game was a fresh new window into something not many games at the time dove into. Other than the Starwars game, Star Trek game was something else.

This game was using the Original Enterprise as it was seen in ST2. Mission was simple, to hunt down minesweeper drones or fighting off Klingons or the Romulans. Limited Warp capacity (Warp Jumps) Firing Phasers and Photon Torpedos, with actual sound effects of the show/movies. It was something to be in, specially the $.50 sitdown machines with replica of the Command Chair used by Kirk and his bridge crew. With 4 buttons, and dial to turn the ship. It was fast pace machine...specially when game started, being greeted by Spock! With a deep logical tone "Welcome aboard Captain." With its split screen viewer, tactical (overhead view in 2D Map) and the Forward view, leaving the Starbase and doing combat, missions.

If you EVER find this game, try enjoy it, its something else to use. Truly is, specially the sitdown version!

Outrageous Comedy with a Message
18 October 2004
Well, true to Trey Parker and Matt Stone's style in film making. This movie is funny, outrageous at moments, and stealthily shoots its message when you least expected under the cover of humor.

This movie smack everyone with these beautiful images of puppets in various locations as Team America seemly (almost misguidedly) goes in to stop the Terrorist at every turn. However annihilating everything in their path to do the job! This routine carnage get notice of American public and world. Movie highlights how some media star who barely understand the subject matter on world stage, try play at politics and how stupid they sound/act. Also it showcases how in someway that America can in fact ignore the damage its doing sometimes when it mishandle trying to save the world from trouble.

Ultimately the message of type of people (comedically well done) shows that these type people: weak, strong, evil. (I won't use the Actually words ;) ) In true style, Parker and Stone give hell of a one-two punch of entertainment and smack of reality in a rather funny package for people to see. Grade A stuff. If you don't get offended by wide ranges of humor, your going love this. Weak of heart need not to apply.

Star Trek: Enterprise (2001–2005)
Star Trek: Revision History
22 May 2004
From my view of the series, is this is stab at fresh material no one has covered before on television for Star Trek.

May very good novel have come out in the past which shown to be better than some TV shows. I remember a novel which best suits the original history of Star Trek. This one Star Fleet: Year One, which fully embraced idea of very limited technologies and thing human's and allies had to overcome to become the UFP.

Enterprise, is a completely different take. It rushed technology which were commonly are used to The Original Series (TOS)and prematurely introduced character races that wouldn't have been meet (Klingons) over hundred years earlier than they should have.

NOW, this being said, its a good series. IF you blank out previous stated events and histories that TOS and other later series layed down.

However, Star Trek: Enterprise (TV show) is trying save itself from cancellation by making itself more exciting and showing that original (non-USS) Enteprise is saves universe as Star Fleet only has ONE ship in its entire fleet.

Being one few scifi shows on the air that futuristic and have high budget, its CGI effect and some of its stories are good. However, the show is very unbalanced and sloppy. Everything is being rushed to just save the show and keep viewers. I think this is a losing battle when show strayed away from its original history. This can be traced back to Star Trek: First Contact. Basis of the show's altered history of Star Trek. However i believe the show hints to the fact that this Time War thats occurring is in fact causing things to change thust why we suddenly don't think things are matching up to what has been said in the past.

As science fiction show, its a good one. However as Star Trek Fan who cares....i think its poor in writing and keep up to history which had been established. Ignoring what was and making it hip and cool only works when its done by people who care about it and know what their doing.

King of Bandit Jing (2002– )
10/10
The King of Cool and Fantasy, stealin hearts and as well a loot!
17 February 2004
This is really first class animation which swims into the realm of Fantasy. Where time and reality are thrown out the window.

Animation by itself is gorgeous, thou first time viewers will most likely be confused what's going on in first couple episodes, thou it slowly makes more sense as you watch it.

This basically tale of a boy named Jing, who steals rare and very difficult things for a living, with his bird-pal (girl crazy) who can become living energy weapon of incredible power.

Each show has different theme and something to steal. As well as gorgeous music, and compelling stories of how is this guy going steal this thing...there the music. Japanese music for this show, specially beginning and ending themes are high energy and addictive to listen. Thou in the original language which to me, adds something more to it. Something you've never heard before.

If you like something different that borders on realm of fantasy and fun. Which doesn't need a scientific answer and does it in style.

The Big O (1999–2003)
Big O, Season II: American Ending
2 November 2003
Thru pure determination, Big O has lived up to its catch phrase... "Big O, its Showtime!"

Second Season of Big O (Which should be considered a second series) has arisen due to the efforts of Cartoon Network in the United States.

The series was re-edited to be more a Big Robot show than the more sophisticated show it original was for Japanese audience.

However, despite it being changed, it still a winner of series with Season 2 coming out swinging (literally) as first episode of season 2 starts off with the battle which had begun at very end of Season 1's last episode.

However, due to Time (1998-99) Now it was redone in (2002) the series has been made bit more clearer for the American audience which is made for. Sadly the old future or direction of the show which it was going in season 1 is without a doubt has been changed radically. I believe, this is due to the limitation of 13 additional episodes for Big O. The series' timeless one off episodes which leaves a clue on what world is about and where series is going has been put into OVERDRIVE, sped up to resolve rest of the series.

(2003) Series, deals with Roger dealing with fact his life maybe not his own but of someone else, elaborate stage to relive the live of original Roger Smith and his giant Robot, Big O. Whom for some reason has been given to him to resolve the cities biggest problems.

Without spoiling anything, the series resolves itself in way that will throw a long time viewer off their rocker or throw away any ideas they've been given on what has been going on for entire 2 seasons.

The show is still a fantastic ride, even if its Americanized. It is a down right well put together. The series is a nicely done mystery/action series that will suck you in and makes you think.

If you are able to get this series on DVD, I'd grab it. Please don't let the fact original first season being re-done for American Audience scare you off. Its still down right very good show.

Golden Boy (1995–1996)

One of a kind naughty Comedy
1 November 2003
Golden Boy is in my opinion one the sleeper / lost treasures animes out there. A sexy comedy, about a young man quest to find his nitch in life and he blunders into all sort of odd jobs that somehow has this rather sexy girl who ultimately falls for him but he not really realizing it! Its truly something that you can easily miss if you at the name, but once viewing it...will fall for the comedy/silliness that lies inside. Truly a crime that only produced 6 OVA episodes and pilot movie were made. However, being unique as it is. I'm surprised it survived to produce that many. If you want a good laugh, with high quality anime that is (100% CGI free), check this anime out. Boy who one day may save the world....or maybe not.

Peephole into Japaness Popculture
21 September 2003
guard. The anime does not take self seriously due to fact this was pressure release for the makers of this anime.

With hand drawn anime becoming a rarity now, this is a treasure trove of diffrient styles of anime. You see bits of Manga (comic book version of anime), you see MANY takes on Japanese Popculture. Heck you see even bit of South Park parody in one the episodes.

This really down right funny anime, however if there was anything wrong with it, its for people who understand popculture, Mainly Japanese Popculture. Not that holds it back, but has potential of confusing people who just don't understand the strange/fun. Than the straight forward traditional story. Also there some bits that would upset parents who find children talking about sex or being suggestive about it. Again, another hallmark of differences between Japanese Culture and American Culture. The children in Japan are treated little more maturity and parents little more secure about their kids. Along with other differences which may make a sensitive American Parent bit touchy about their kids watching this. Thou I'd would imagine this should be rated PG-13 at minimum.

Its a confusing story, but a lot fun getting to the end. This is a roller coaster ride of an anime. Its too bad its so short.

Grand Theft Auto III (2001 Video Game)
Mature Gamer's Dream
14 May 2002
Tired of the same boring game thats politically correct and seems like its like all the rest? Well, here a game for you. You are the bad guy in this game, infact the underdog. World is against you and everything is going to be OKEY. In this game your a minor thief trying to get revenge for a betray on a job you have done. In course of the game you have freedom to do missions at your leasure, however once on them you'll find that alot of them aren't easy and need to be done again and again. Some are timed missions, some are simple tasks, others are best explained by the game itself.

You can steal any car you lay your hands on and sell them. As you as gain a rep in the game your ability to anger the authorities grows ever so more higher. As you free 3 portions of the city, you'll find it will get harder. More missions, more minor non-story missions will open up and your life is in your hands. As if it wasn't enough, the game also harbors other qualities which younger games shouldn't be exposed too. Where you can restore your health by picking up a hooker for example. However, there is no nudity in this game. Just a adult theme and language. Besides the rampaging volience which is the core of this game. This game has been rated as being one the BEST games of 2001. If not the best selling game so far that year. A sequel is the works for this game which is called GTA: Vice City, which was formerly Miami. I believe they changed the name for political reasons. Anyways, You'll find if you have played the original GTA game that this game mirrors least the first 2 levels of it. Names of the cars, most of the places, basic missions and stories of the original GTA. I still like GTA's layout better than 3's due to its ONE city mentality.

Anyways, this excellent adult game to play for those guys/gals over 18 years old. If you think your done with the game? There are cheats that open an ENTIRELY diffrient way to play it.
