Along Came Polly (2004)
this movie was good
I am amazed on how many people thought this movie was a waste. Dodgeball yes not this one. I think Stiller is at his best here my god I laugh for a good 15 minutes and hard to on the bathroom scene. And I thought the scene where Stiller is playing hoop and gets a mouth full of chest hairs Dammit that was funny. Stillers sense of humor is is just awesome. To me he ranks right up there with Adam Sandler. I thought Jennifer Aniston is the cutiest thing I can not believe Brad Pitt left her....... Anyway that is my opinion, the sound track was good in this movie. And Just love the way the stole the idea for the bagpipe movie from the breakfast club I can not believe some people I know that watched this movie with me did not get that....this is definitely a movie to add to the collection if you like to laugh hard even if it is only in 2 scenes. But to me if I laugh like really hard in one scene in a comedy movie I like it (not a big fan of comedy movies). I hope that when I am about 70 years old and I am watching this movie on my kick ass surround system I hope that the bathroom hum is still with me.....
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989)
I remember when
I remember watching this movie for the first time I was just married and it was like a week before Christmas. Like most couples starting out I was certainly not well financially I was living with my mother-inlaw. Yea Yea I know hold back the tears.... Anyway the only advantage I had living with the bieatch was that she had HBO. Me and and my wife where nestled together in bed and started watching this movie. At first I was not going to watch this movie because of Chevy Chase (not a big fan) but the laughs started to get more and more intense as the movie went on. There are so many season in this movie that over the years they have been quieted by so many of my friends. My favorite scene is when Eddie brings back Clark's boss and the swat team busts into the house and yells FREEZE. The first couple times watching I never noticed that Beverly Deangelo gripped chase nuts. then the police officer intros himself and deangelo shakes his hand and goes back to chases nuts (classic for back then). I admit I started a tradition every year with my family (now diviorced anyone single?) and we watch this movie at Thanksgiving along with Bad Santa, Its a wonder life and Christmas story. I hope that when I make it to the golden 70TH year of my existence on this planet and I am watching this movie on my new kick ass space age surround sound equipment I will always keep the tradition alive.
As Good as It Gets (1997)
Heeerrrsss Johnny
Ever since watching the best scary movie of all time (the shinning) and Jack gives the line here's Johnny I am and always will be a jack fan no matter what!!!.. I grew up in Troy NY where the movie Iron Weed was being filmed and a scene was right in front of my apartment I grew up in and I met the great Jack. Me and a good friend of mine got a chance to visit him in his trailer which was propped up in my alley way there I was having a beer with Jack and my friend he is such a great guy and believe me he is as weird in real life as he is in the movies. Anyway at that time, as we where having a cocktail with Jack I metioned to him it would be hilarious seeing you in a comedy movie because at that time he was only playing weird roles and scary roles. Jack kinda gave that look and the riddler grin and said maybe I will that sounds like plan... I know he did not do a comedy do to my saying so but as I predicted he came through and now seems he likes doing them. His one liners in as good as it gets is priceless. This movie was also has a great supporting cast Hunt is sooo charming and Kiner has that dry sense of humor that click's so well in this movie. If you have not seen this movie for what reason I do not know you have to see it. I know for a fact that when I am about 70 years old and I am watching this movie on my space age surroundsound I will always remember Jacks one liner that he said to me personally SOUNDS LIKE A PLAN SHAWN LUV YA JACK!!!!!!!!!!!
Reel Comedy: 50 First Dates (2004)
Sandler is just plain funny
OK first review on a comedy. I am not much on comedy but I am however with Adam Sandler. Once again his movies have a great sound track (the boy knows his music). and some very funny scenes. I don't know about you but I really thought that Drew Barrymore looked very very good in this movie. I thought this movie had a good mix between sandler and barrymore and being a comedy (do not have much plot lines) this movie was one of sandlers better movies. I noticed at the end that he dedicated this movie to his dad I did not know that he passed away. Anyways I hope when I reach 80 (IF I DO) and I am listing to the soundtrack on some kick ass future spaceage equipment I will still rock on to 80's music that would 1980-1989.............
Troy (2004)
Troy from ancient times or troy NY
OK someone help me out here Mudassar Baig (god your parents are cruel) said this movies fight scenes reminded him of Lord Of the Rings?? BLASPHOMY maybe fight scenes from braveheart.... Anyways Mudassar (god Your parents are really cruel) and his parents have their own opinion, as for mine I though Troy could have been done a lot better exspecially coming from Wolfgang (man his parents are a little creepy)who has made some very good movies. As far as Brad Pitt well I only liked him in one movie and you guessed it NOT THIS ONE! the rest of the cast was OK and I though Orlando Blooms performance was more stand out than Pitt's. The only thing that I can say was well done in this movie was the old time classic movies (Ben Her and all the bible movies) using 100's of extras instead of computer generated people. The set designs where one the best done kudos to them. The DVD is loaded with some cool extras and amasing facts (some people chose never to watch the extras i recommend it)Well when I am 80 years old (if I make it) I might see a brad Pitt weekend special to promote his marriage to britty spears on some kick ass spaceage equipment I will remember the wonderful set design on this movie and how it reminded of the movie Benn her (buy then a really old classic)...............
A Walk in the Clouds (1995)
Good Flick
Is not funny as you walking down your favorite movie rental stomping ground all the good movies are out and you scan hopelessly looking for a movie? Well I must have passed over walk in the clouds million times (OK 20 times I do have a life) and saw Keenue Reeves on the cover and said yea lets get this one then you read the back to see what it is about and say oh oh chick flick alert (come on show of hands how many have said this) well I recently moved back home with my sister and she has about 600 movies to her collection and as you have a guessed it chick flick heaven. I decided to watch this movie(after all I did not have to pay for it ooops is that like an FBI infraction) anyways I snapped it in and started to watch. When I saw Debra Messing in it I said oh OK she is hot and started to watch and started to watch before you know I was like into this movie. The acting was well done and I was saying to myself this is a good honest story of the 40's and a movie with a good story line no killing , no drugs little sex but nothing to worry about. Then it happened the chick flick syndrome kicked in I started thinking about my ex-girlfriend and how much I wanted what Reeve's character wanted and I almost started to (oh my I am going to say it) CRY. This movie does not make my top 100 films but it does not suck either. The shots where beautifully done except the horrific blue screen (fake shots)but they where colorful and the director did what he was supposed to do confey how beautiful Nappa Valley can and probley is. Well when I am 80 years old (if I make it that far) and I am watching this ABC movie of the week on some kick ass space age equipment I will always think of my Ex-girlfriend Cindy when I watch this movie and think What could have been......
Superman (1978)
My First HBO Movie
Amazing 200 reviews for the previous writer... Anyway I just started and I will comment on this movie:) I remember when this movie first came out my family could not afford HBO and my mom somehow found the money to afford it and one of the first movies I saw was this one. Prior to seeing this movie and not having cable I was limited to to the PBS version of Superman. Now don't get me wrong back in the day this must have been pretty cool but I watched each week to see what Superman was going to do and the cheesy effects that went with this show. Now enter in the life of cable and I eagerly waited as the cable man makes his final checks and make sure the connections are cool and on came the infamous song to HBO as the camera scans through model city and the infamous This picture has been rated PG by the motion picture association of Amercia (GOOD I CAN WATCH IT I AM 13) and the awesome score comes Danda danda danda danda da da tatatum ta da da tatatum (GODD IT HAS STUCK IN MY HEAD SINCE) I knew from there this was going to be great and I was not disappointed the late great Reeves (only great in superman movies) was cool and the flying scenes where well ahead of its time. Superman will live forever and I hope that when and if I make to be 80 years old watching Superman on some form of future kick ass equipment I will have that same song to listen to and say man I remember that that was the first movie I saw on cable :)
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
A moment in history
I was not going to to comment on any of the Star Wars movies because to me the prequels could have gotten the worst rating and I would say the movie was kick ass!!!! But I thought that I have this account GO FOR IT. For starters this movie was KICK ASS.... I love the way Lucas has entertained me once in again in the best movies of all time. When I left the theater I was left in utter amazement as I did as a young boy 9 years old when I saw the first Starwars movie. the flow of the action was just as bit as good as it was in 1977. In the scene when young Skywalker becomes Vader I remember feeling sorrow because Anikain was such a kind and loving boy that was tortured by the darkside and I remember my mind wandering to the scene when Vader tells Luke to join him to the dark side Lucas has done such an incredible job with all these movies except and I am thankful Idid not have to deal with it in ROTS is JAR JAR BINKS. He definitely must be the most hated character in this saga and the poor fella just stumbled his way into the story. I hope I can make it to my 70TH am I am sitting in front of my TV watching some kind of digital or or other technology and the Saturday afternoon is any one of the trilogy starwars and I am sitting with the same sense of amazement and I will yell out THIS MOVIE KICK"S ASS so all of you who are still around me can here me. THANK_YOU GEORGE LUCAS :)
Finding Neverland (2004)
Hits home
Every once in awhile a movie can really hit the heart. Finding overland is very much one of those movies. The acting was splended and the whole plot and script was perfectly done. I enjoyed the DVD version of this film very much exspecially the outtakes. This is a must see movie no matter what age you are it will bring the inner child out of you. I am not really a big fan of Kate Winslett but she plays a very good role in this movie and once again she finds a way to make me cry Titanic I needed tissues!!!! Is there a movie that Johnny Depp that Sucks???? I doubt it. The only thing that is poorly done in this movie it was a bit short when it came to his relatrionship with his friends and family I would have gotten to know Barre other than have to look it up on the internet ....Oh well I will give this movie a 8/10
