Naiveté (2001)
Short that gets it done
I thought the video was a bit dark. Whether that was an intentional usage of darkness to foreshadow or not, I don't know.
I liked the use of the slow motion video. It was used to highlight the emotional reaction rather than the action. It was a very interesting approach that was used with just the right timing at the points where it would give the most bang for the buck.
The background noises were sparse. A little more background might of added a little to this flick.
I have a soft spot for low budget shorts and this one was coherent, a rarity in the genre.
Mars (1997)
Energy with nowhere to go
Acting energy with a poor script, talent is a terrible thing to waste. This movie had two typical plot lines with no surprises. The main character starts off with an aggressiveness that promises a good movie, but it never goes anywhere. If you really have nothing better to do (snowed in for days), then it might be alright to watch this one once . ..
The Killer Eye (1999)
Fun low budget horror flick.
Forget the "formula" horror flick. This one is a low budget original. It doesn't try to change the world or take itself too seriously. The detail on the giant eye is VERY good. The mad scientist is a classic! Worth watching.
Spaceman (1998)
Low budget, honest attempt to tell an original story.
The lead actor steals the show. His portrayal of the intensely focused character, "spaceman" makes the movie a keeper. The lack of a typical "formula" plot combined with a wonderfully fresh director's perspective makes this film worth watching.
Simple scenes, good acting, decent script come together to make a fun movie.
