Fateful tale
11 July 2021
Certainly was an enjoyable beginning; the arrival of the mystery death. Next the heroin arrives and then the plot just floundered in the lake. The cast was great, scenery enchanting and possibilities abound as we see hints of a great devious plot of spooky strange shadow people. Next thing you know is this was not such a well written story at all. Why was this allowed to be sent to public without someone questioning every missing piece of this unfortunate puzzle? Woopee for girl power. If she never had real enemies or ghosts to battle how does she celebrate victory at a camp fire on an island with no wood to burn? Where was the gun dealer? One paper bag for supplies? I have to stop because it just gets worse the more I recall.

Surprising alternative

Speak the truth & shame the devil. In the case of this movie we are all pressed for our own truth shaming. I found myself following along with the characters to discover the plot with the expectation of already knowing the outcome. The actors are great, very believable as they reveal themselves to be inward looking and outwards commanding in their performance. I can't say anything offended me by this movie; it's simple, direct, and fun to watch. If there is a secret about world order that secret isn't revealed in this film. Just allow yourself to have fun with 'ol Scratch.

Antiquities (2018)
Solid film for entertainment

This movie reminds me of a Garrison Keillor skit from the Prairie Home Companion radio show. Great twists in the dialogue, humorous witty story telling designed to engage viewers in an immersive trip to odd likable characters working through their lives. I laughed many times at the writers intentionally landed jokes mocking Hallmark movies and so many direct homages to the Carol Burnett Show along with the whole radio era story telling that never once apologized for being a movie on the 21st century. I got it from the very first scene where they were going with this film and they totally got it right! Excellent job at speaking to the thousands of writers, radio shows and decades of creative entertainment that preceded the film industry. I send hugs out for this entire effort well done, well portrayed, and expert cinematic story telling.
