Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024)
A beautifully crafted adaptation with lots of emotion.
This adaptation gave justice to the fans but it also proves that you can follow the original source, and make some minor changes so it can be adapted. It's respectful to the original but it also tries to be its own thing. The one problem I faced during it, was the fact that this show didn't feel like it had a soul. It takes a few episodes until it finds its footing in tone and emotions with the crescendo being at the final few episodes making me say "I need a season 2 now."
It's a fun and a character driven show with plenty of homages and even more characters bonding with each other. Deserves a watch by every fan out there.
Scream VI (2023)
One of the most solid entries in this franchise
Despite some of it's flaws, SCREAM VI manages to captivate the suspence that the previous instalment lacked from. The whole movie was a continuous chase scene, with solid character arcs and great scenery. New York was a great choice for the movie to prove that nobody can hear you. The characters were fleshed out equally, and this time around they managed to make me actually care about them. The kills were BRUTAL and really shocked me because there wasn't anything similar to that on previous instalments. The killers had solid motives unlike the 5th movie even though, if someone looked close enough they could guess some of them. I think they played it too safe with the kills of the main cast but overall I'm happy this movie didn't turn out to be a disappointment.
The Wilds (2020)
Greatest of its kind.
A binge worthy show that doesn't let you breathe upon the end of its episodes. The cinematography is really beautiful and the writing, although, sometimes may leave some plot holes, it's really good because of the chemistry of its characters and their development. Season 1 was absolutely fantastic. Seeing the plot thicken while the character drama and the unsolved mysteries unfolding really captured me into my screen. Season was really good even tho it slowed things down. The writing of the boy characters felt a little of at the beginning because it was based on stereotypical characters and that seemed to be their only trait (unlike the girls) but later on they got better with the plot really showing the potential this show could do. So sad it was canceled that early. I felt like it deserved its third season.
Light as a Feather (2018)
A quick show that deserved a conclusion.
This show really got my interest back in 2019-20 and I can't stop but wonder, why was it cancelled so soon. It had it's flaws and sometimes underestimated the audience, by making things too obvious, but I think that one thing that season 2 established was the character development and the suspense that elevated the plot and really captivated me into watching all these episodes at once. The performances weren't bad at all and I really loved Lianna's and Brianne's acting, they really knew what they were doing. It's also worth noting that even tho the main lead felt always too safe, the other characters really felt like they were on danger and it's always good to have that on a show. It should've at least 4 more episodes to bring the story to a satisfying conclusion.
Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin: Chapter Ten: Final Girls (2022)
Really disappointing
It was a lame finale with last minute reveals, with no clues about it all season long. The characters felt too safe to be killed and of course in Riverdale fashion, Roberto killed of a season that could've been awesome because everything was pointing to it until episode 8. It was too rushed with bad direction that sometimes actually felt good and sometimes horrible. It's honestly sad that they tried to revive a "franchise" that was so popular back in 2010 and yet they still managed to f- this up because Warner bros can't seem to be finding actually good writers. I'm still hoping for a season two but with less than 10 episodes so the writers can focus on the main story and not in irrelevant storylines.
Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin (2022)
Lot's of Clichè's but a refreshing take on the franchise.
So the new Pretty Little liars contains elements from slasher movies and tv shows like scream and Halloween while keeping the main elements of pll in place. Sometimes the characters were hard to empathise because the conversations didn't even seem realistic (horror movie references every 4 minutes) and overall especially through it's finale it felt like watching a bad episode of Riverdale. The characters felt too safe to get us worried that they might die and the whole thing was rushed but kept it's formula simple without complicating the plot with holes like the original pll did. Hoping that season 2 will be an improvement overall because the concept is really good.
