Love Angels (1974)
very good!
7 June 2002
My friend Rino Di Silvestro delivers here another very convincing slice cinema that cannot be missed by any connoiseur of filth. What can you expect from a director who made the wonderfull "Werewolf woman" and has other films in his filmography as "Deported women of the ss" ? the answer is : much. Here Rino gives an INsight of the life of the prostitutes: the film starts pseudo-docu like, a man interviews a girl when she did start as a slut-she gives him an answer-goes away and the man says "i´ll make perhaps a visit.."--then the credits start- a film by rino di silvestro.. yes this is (very)gooooooooood... A man drives through the prostitute "district" asking the sluts he´s interested how much they want (among them also a prostitute performed by Orchidea de santis, but she´s too expensive..). He finds a suiting Prostitute who´s also a "fair" price, it comes to the intended "transaction" but in the next scene the Prostitute is dead-this leads to Police investigation and the Who/Whydunnit question. Naturally the police find to find out who the Murderer is and interviews all the sluts what they know about her."Surprisingly" they get very little information, everybody doesnt want anything to do with it, they find out that the victim was not really a "profesional" slut just a student. Her fiancee has an alibi but is a suspect. A sleazy photographer (performed by the incredible luciano rossi) who besides sells some prostitutes to other people ,blackmails an older man with his pictures that he has made with him and the murdered victim, the older man knows who the murder is, coz he was a voyeur who enjoyed to watch while the girl did it with other people and he was also there when the murder happended. Technically the film is quite decent made, the insight of the life of the prostitutes what di silvestro gives here is simply terrific! (the giallo plot is rather of secondary interest)this contains naturally some sleaze, and some incredible dialogues Alone the scene with the male-slut who dresses as a woman is priceless! Orchidea de santis in the role of the prostitute is also terrific! in a scene there´s a big discussion that she insists her customer has to use a condom, coz she gets so easily pregnant. Her customer has a "terrific" ideja for this and takes her from behind... after this his buddies come with their motorycles... Ok to write ALL the good films about this film would be to much to write here (why not deepen the subject and write a book about the sinema of rino di silvestro?) A terrific film from a terrific director.

Madness (1980)
terrific!

Incredible cinema from fernando di leo (one of his last films) : A deserted place-somewhere out of the city, Joe Dallesandro in best prehistoric "caveman" vein lurks around and attacks one man with a big,fat stone. Another man, he throws the stone on him but he doesnt hit, the man sets up a fight with dallesandro and finally loses his life.. then dallesandro drives the car-.The credits and the music of luis bacalov start... the viever notices, its going to be an amazing "event"... The plot continues when a man with his wife and her horny sister paola (performed by Lorraine de selle) are arriving at a small house for the weekend. Dallesandro not far away from here, first spies around the house and watches through the window that lorraine has an affair with her sister´s man dallesandro sees his chance when de selle is alone at home, making outside a sunbath he hits her, brings her into the house and after she wakes up he wants immediately a coffee(!) After some small talk dallesandro rapes de selle who then afterwhile says that she even enjoyed it an ungood surprise awaits the wife and the man..needless to say. one highlight of the film when dallesandro is forcing de selle and the man to have sex, while the whole time he points his riffle at them and gives comands -quote(to de selle): " and you show what we men like.." later it comes to a ultra pathetic pseudo-romance between dallesandro and de selle´s sister, but still the end of film leads to a pure tragedy... Technically the film is obviously very low budget-nearly amateurish, Dallesandro makes a totally over(and under)acting performance but he´s very entertaining, the actress of de selle´s sister is completely unconvincing (probably she never "acted" before) about de selles role i can say just the very best: most of the film she´s completely naked, so this is doubtless her best role! if you see her in this film and her other flicks as the bruno mattei films for example you note that nothing is too low for this actress-and i dont mean this negative! All in one a film that i like a lot, probably its not for everybodys taste..

Politically and Objective, Subjective viewed this film is a kind of insult for every drug consumer (and i mean every drug: illegal and legal)and suits actually well the political"comedy" concerning this theme. Castellari shows here a strong stereotype world of the "drugscene" that i cannot associate with the word intelligence especially with such a theme(though funny it is). Here we have the "typical" junkie whos halfcrazy coz he doesnt get his "medicine", and the tough b*****d dealer who beats the s*** out of everybody when it comes to money. it gets then "socio-critical" when the police says how many poor people die due the use of (illegal)drugs (fine that its unimportant how many die due excessive alcohol consume-especially when the state gets money for it) Naturally if you dont take it seriously this film is quite entertaining: fabio testi here who plays a cop who goes undercover in the drug scene, wears most of the film a cap and some priceless wildleather boots(!) The (psychedelic)music from goblin is great, and is a perfect start for the film Needless to say that some decent action is also included here. Patrizia Webley the sleazy blonde, has here a short cameo as one of the lesbian customers of sherry buchanan -who gets her money for the drugs by selling her body. Yes, its a "mondo candido"!..

Most people Cesare Canevari is known (if at all) as the director behind the very bad nazi picture "Gestapos last orgy", with "La principessa nuda" Canevari proofs that he can make also good film-and not what you would really expect.. besides this is definitely a much more personal work-Canevari was responsible for the story, and edit what you cant say about "Gestapos last orgy". "la principessa nuda" is a film hard to put in a category- in a very own way unusual: the entire tone of the film is quite ironic to sarcastic that reaches comedy, but in artistic vein, still this cannot give a real overview of the film. the story as the title might suggest, is about an african princess, (performed by Ajita Wilson) who is making a trip to milano for political reasons with the intend to help her people in africa. in milano arrived, she gets assistance from a woman (tina aumont) who-as all the men there is immediately quite attracted to the princess. a sleazy journalist (who has nothing against alcohol in the morning) also crosses her way-first with the intend to interview her about her private life but he has the plan to make nude pictures of her(well therefore the title)- later he wants to make pictures of her while having sex- to ruin here it is revealed that the princess cannot laugh or cry nor has interest in "encounters" with men(or women) with help of a girlfriend she participates in a kind of ritual, this results later in a bizarre orgy, where also a dwarf is involved. canevari uses partways odd camerangles and fast cuts during some scenes-one scene for example is totally out of focus, (it would be an insult if that was NOT intended!), metaphors like the sound of the jungle during a milano traffic shot the funky (beat)music is quite good-but i doubt there´s a soundtrack of it. this film deserves surely some more hype-but meaning of course not the mainstream with it i havent read something before the film-therefore i didnt know what to expect-my maininterest in the film was the presence of tina aumont-an actress i love. the film was released in germany under the rather misleading title "Black Magic"

nice giallo
5 January 2002
A rather unusual agenda from tinto brass who obviously found later his niche in "t&a" movies. Col cuore in Gola is a psychedelic, pop art giallo that can just come from the great era of the late 60´s/70´s. Starting from the nice credits and music you immediately like this film and this is just the beginning! Trintignant founds in a nightclub a corpse beside the lovely aulin who just says "i wasnt it" Convinced that she is innocent he wants to help her and want to find out the murderer, Aulins brother should solve this case and both are searching for him. Though not quite without problems..a dwarf in raincoat is following them in companion with some gangsters who kidnap Aulin. Jean is now searching for aulin, aulins brother and (of course) the murderer. The Story itself is not that convincing (rather unimportant) but what here is really of interest is the unconvential style of brass : splitscreen(even tripple split screens!) some scenes in black and dark yellow filter and more.., and in the "middle" of course the presence of two very convincing leads: cool Trintignant and hot Ewa Aulin. (somehow priceless here in white fishnet stockings) the result is a quite good giallo with (obviously) strong references to pop art. In the same year Aulin and Trintignant appeared in the avantgarde giallo masterpiece "Death laid an egg", Col Cuore in Gola is not great as Giulio Questis film but is definitely entertaining.

polselli doesnt disappoint!
15 May 2001
Warning: Spoilers
Contains Spoilers

What a masterpiece offers Polselli with this film! A man (isarco ravaioli) wants to commit suicide due the coldheartness and egoism of his fiancee, played by Rita Calderoni (with short hair!) After he "plays" a few times russian roulette without the intentioned effect.., he calls Calderoni and tells her he wants to kill himself, she visits him without knowing what awaits her.. the man takes his knife and tortures her a bit with his knife..then he stabs himself in the stomach..and dies..or not?. Rita wants to get rid of the corpse and hides the corpse in a chest. But she gets more problems when she notices a man from her window who has seen everything. the crazy man (as if he came from an italian comedy) is a wacky guy, who seems to take everything cool and not serious is invited to come in and starts to play the sadist..he throws some meatpieces on rita´s nude body just to feed the dog, and after that when Calderonis "slave", a black woman visits them, commands her to whip calderoni. after this, calderoni wants to make it that the black woman was the murder, but the woman(her personal "plaything" by the way..) has no interest to help her.. Rita starts to get crazy and thinks the corpse has disappeared and has just drugged her to fool her..another time she sees the corpes in the bathtub instead of the chest. While all this happens , meanwhile some hippies have gathered together in the living room and dance to some beat (excellent music by the way!) one of them explains their life philosophy regarding the trouble with the corpse: "This is not our world, or world is love..."(!!) .Finally Rita and the man have the idea to cook the corpse and then cut it in pieces. but they don´t really do it.. Suddenly (Surprise!) the "dead" man appears and quite alive! The man has just simulated his death, and has hired the other guy..both have planed this together. but intended things go into another direction..suddenly the man is then on ritas sides and explains he loves her and now wants to protect her. At the End he kills him(..and this time he´s really dead). Rita, actually not very thankfull for this deed, simply wants to call the police. the man then says: "It´s to cold for me in this room..,i have to get out here" (Meaning the coldheartness of Rita) and joins then the hippies in the living room!!!

Polselli said that severall versions should have been made of "La Verita Secondo Satana", also with x-rated scenes (and that is not really a surprise if you see Polselli´s "Oscenita"..). Watching the (unfortunately) uncomplete and heavily cut version of LA Verita Secondo SAtana in german language, shows some alternative scenes fragments.. for example in this version, the dance scenes with the hippies dont appear at all, instead of it: very short fragments of a mass orgy this seems heavily cut and is very possible hardcore in the original version , but these scenes don´t appear at all in the "uncut" version of the italian version.
