Don't (2020)
So-So
It's alright, but the corny narration can be a miss at points and a little forced. It seems to me as if this is ABC's take on Ellen's Game of Games but I'm not sure if it quite matches up.
Holey Moley (2019)
The Announcers Make the Show
It's goofy, fun, extreme mini golf. If you've watched WipeOut, that's essentially what this show is except it's an mini golf course, not just an obstacle course. There's water, fire, zip lines, etc and whole lot of laughs. My favorite part of this will forever be Joe Tessitore and Rob Giggle because they have great chemistry and the two of them laughing and reacting to the contests is just hysterical.
The Wall (2016)
Good Game, Too Much Drama
I actually like the game and the fact that they seem to gear it towards contestants who are the unsung heroes of the world. I'm not a huge fan of the immense amounts of drama that are added. It's almost more like a reality show at points. When the game ends and the two contestants have to stand there with tears in their eyes and profess their love for each other for 5 minutes before saying what needs to be said, I cringe a little. That whole portion of the show could be rewritten and be more concise so that it still gives has the same "wow" factor with less pain for the at home audience.
Lego Masters (2020)
It's Reality TV
It's definitely a reality show, but I just feel like it's a bit too forced at points and certain moments are just flat awkward. I can tell Will is a little out if his comfort zone but he's really trying to navigate this and make it good. My least favorite part of this show is the Brickmasters. They don't seem like they even want to be there in my personal opinion.
A Little Late with Lilly Singh (2019)
Awkward, Painful and an Embarrassment to Late Night TV
I get that everybody needs a chance to start somewhere but I would hope that NBC soon realizes that this needs to be re-evaluated. Lilly tries SO hard to connect with the PC, millennial generation that it comes across as awkward and forced. Some of the jokes in her monologue lack strategic setups and punch lines which leaves me searching for the actual reason to laugh. It's one thing to be funny. It's another thing to be strategically funny and consistently deliver which is something I think Lilly fails to do. I don't think this is what late night television was ever designed to be and if this is the path that other shows will start to follow, I'll be highly disappointed. I wish her all the best but this just doesn't work in my opinion.
