Shining Vale (2022–2023)

One of the best series in a very long time!
18 March 2024
I cannot understand how this series was cancelled for low viewership.

I don't know that this is even a possibility, but I sincerely hope this series is picked up by some other entity as it is too good to let go of, especially after only 2 short seasons.

Every character is a delight! Their delivery of the humor infused throughout this series is superb! Kinnear and Cox are perfect for each other, they compliment each other so well.

This is a quickly, funny, interesting series with a strong undercurrent about mental health (in a good way). I believe the portrayal of how mental health issues can play out, while continuing to address the day to day struggles everyone has, it well done. Yes, this is a dark comedy, but very well done!

I really hope this is not "goodbye!"

Adorable!
25 November 2023
This was absolutely adorable!! Families are complicated and this film did a delightful job of illustrating some of those complications. Regardless of whether you can relate to the specific circumstances being presented, everyone can relate to the unique nuances that occur in every family dynamic and requires navigation by each family member. This was all done with very relatable humor, we laughed through the entire film, and cryed, it was perfectly paced and kept us fully engaged. There were no ill paced boring moments, the pace was consistent and the humor was relatable, as previously stated. We thoroughly enjoyed this film!! If you want to watch something hilarious and endearing, this is it. Enjoy!!

Soooo funny!!
4 February 2023
I thought this was too funny!! Not an epic thriller, but it isn't meant to be. It has a decent plot, plausible, tractable, again, it is what it is. Everyone needs to just relax and watch this movie for what it is and you'll be able to appreciate the humor, and some drama, no worries, just enjoy the ride. This movie is exactly what it needs to be, fun, light, silly, charming, action packed, tense, dramatic, etc. The characters, and actors they chose to play them, so interesting, and a perfect fit, priceless!!!! I really needed this today, thank you movie people, for making my day!! I would highly recommend this movie!!!

Great film, exceptional messages, DO NOT miss!
23 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
There are so many critical messages to unpack in this film. For lack of time/space I will focus on only a few. As a sexual assault advocate, I simply cannot understand why this message isn't fully accepted in our society today, educate everyone on consent, safety, and empowerment, everyone! No one has a right to touch anyone w/o their consent and in the case where either party is impaired or holds power over another, err on the side of caution and do not engage. As a therapist I do understand the complicated nature of these issues and the barriers that may prevent that from happening and there are too many to address here. The greatest gift we give ourselves and those we purport to love/care about is to believe and support them when they tell us they have been harmed in any way. Why are we still focused on how revealing the truth may make someone look or be perceived by others? Why do females, not solely but still primarily, have to continue to bear the burden/consequences of being harmed in any way (e.g., financially, socially, professionally, etc.)? As a parent/guardian, ask questions, educate, support, and believe your children, of all genders/identities, when they tell you they have been harmed and by doing this we may actually prevent the harm from happening, every perpetrator of harm has a parent/guardian. Let's start by creating an environment where we make it easier to disclose our trauma, not harder. Everyone has some type of trauma, so let's focus on what healing can look like and stop focusing on division instead of inclusion/empowerment!

So funny, just watch it!
16 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Alan Tudyk is phenomenal! His portrayal of an alien playing a human is fantastic! All of the actors are amazing in their roles. I expected it to be cheesy but it is funny and endearing. This is so funny in such specific ways, it's hard to explain.

This is just what was needed, an actually funny, endearing movie!! This was pure fun!! Don't overthink this movie, just enjoy it. This isn't only funny it is also about connection, in an interesting way. In a currently ugly world we need to focus on some joy, with a positive message. Watch it and decide for yourself. Enjoy!!!
