Shameless (2011)
Shameless : Overall Thoughts
After 2 months I've finally finished the show ive
been looking into binging for years. I will say through seasons 1-7 were some of the best divertely well writen piece of dark dramatic comedic television media ive seen or that has ever come out that seperates itself into its own territory of sub genre. However after season 8-9 especially with Fiona's departure (you couldnt have maybe brought her back in the final episode or even mentioned her a little bit more than you did?) the show could've ended their and i wouldnt have had a problem with it. But Season 10 and so on to season 11 were bordeline directionless that we similarly saw for example with the Office after Michael Scotts departure which was show trying to find its identity with its lead anchor missing from the ship. You could've ended at season 10. Nope. Instead the show in season 11 attempted a now new cardinal sin that you should never overbear with a show or movie. Intergrating political ideas and current events where it takes over the plot destroying its own reality. Its ok to add or trinkle these events to subset a timeline for the viewer but when it takes over the show entirely (really covid? Really pure writer one sided political ideology) it just is draining. (Btw im a libertarian who's more left than right leaning on certain topics.) So im not some escrow right wing nut that you find downvoting every piece of entertainment that pushes an agenda. But if you wanna do that for your show dont make it odvious and obnoxious like it made me and many viewers. Great show overall and really connected with the family throughout my viewing experience even if some characters were ruined (Debbie)
But damn just like many shows. You need to know when to pull the plug. Breaking Bad And Ozark knew and executed it near perfectly. If i do rewatch the show again. Ill stick with seasons 1-9.
