Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma (1975)
This is what I pictured goes on at Epstein Island
This film speaks louder now more than ever. When true evil comes in the form of a classist/facist society this is what unfolds. How well did Pasolini know such evil existed? Was he really murdered for making this film? If so, how accurate was he in his depiction? Art to criticize and hold a mirror to society is the point for some, dying for your art is the sign of an unforgiving filmmaker. A filmmaker to question truths and push for answers. Most people hate this film due to its graphic and disturbing nature but Pasolini is saying this evil rules us all. This evil controls us all and we'll never be able to destroy it because in the end it's what killed him.
Once (1973)
I need to watch this film!
I came across the music first in the search for a song for a film idea I have. Totally fell in love with one of the songs and had to share it here. Aminadav Aloni's "Fulfilment" starts with ocean waves in the distance and a synth in a 70s folky vibe but as it lingers it builds a fantastic musical quality that I really love with some added complexity or creepiness depending on how you see it. I have yet to see the film and would really love to find a digital or physical copy but can't seem to find it anywhere. Aloni wrote the music for the film and can be found on YouTube. On the search for this film I found out the Director Morton Heilig was the inventor of the Sensorama which is considered the predecessor to Virtual Reality. So I see why his last and only film could be so mysterious and hard to find.
