Where the Red Fern Grows (2003)
Very good adaptation
This movie was a very good adaptation of the book, and this coming from someone who is very critical. I have, like most, read the book many times, which I think makes it harder to like any film adaptation. However, the movie follows the book very well, omitting small things that really didn't have a lot to do with the plot-line. I would say the movie had a little more of a religious slant than the book did. The acting was nice. I would say the major criticism would be they didn't really get into the dog's personalities much. The book did a great job of showing Dan as a clutz with a big heart and Ann as the smart one. However, I would recommend this and it was a million times better than the original movie adaptation.
The Original Kings of Comedy (2000)
I love comedy.....but this wasn't funny
I"m sorry but I am not on this bandwagon at all. There were good moments, but overall it just wasn't all that at all. I rarely laughed. MOst of it was 'humourous' but not fall out of your chair and roll on the ground funny. Don't waste your time with this. You've got better things to do.
Men in Black II (2002)
Horrible...........but good
No better way to explain it. It depends on what way you are looking at it. If you like graphics you will love this movie. If you are looking for something even close to the first one, then you are in trouble. The plot was horrific. Terrible. There were a few funny lines but nothing to write home about.
The Sum of All Fears (2002)
Typical but good
There were a lot of things I couldn't stand about the movie but for entertainment purposes it was pretty good. The biggest problem I had was that there were a ton of people that knew the bomb was 'not Russian' but yet nobody could get that information to the President? Please. That information would have gotten to the president and things would have calmed down(but that wouldn't have been very cinematic)
Bridget Jones's Diary (2001)
Couldn't get past all the smoke
I don't smoke but I have nothing against smoking. But what did it help the movie by having every single character smoking 24-7? I couldn't get past someone talking with a cigarette in their mouth throughout the entire movie. Please, hollywood, you don't have to have every single character in a movie smoke. It doesn't help the plot whatsoever.
Spider-Man (2002)
Over-rated big time
Give me a break. Top 200 movie of all time? Not even close. The bad guy in the movie was one of the worst characters I've ever seen. It just was not a very good flick. It tried to build up the love between Peter Parker and the girl and then all of a sudden, he just can't be with her? Please. This movie will become a cult movie and will get good rating because people will be afraid to speak the truth, which was, this movie wasn't very good. However, I feel that the sequel might be better because they don't have to build up the character so much.
M*A*S*H: Goodbye, Farewell and Amen (1983)
The best final episode ever.....
I'm only 28, so I didn't get the full impact of MASH until later in life. HOwever, there is no doubt that this is the best final episode of any show ever. None other even compares to this episode. It takes us on a journey through all the emotions that t.v. often does not give us.
A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)
Don't listen to those who said it was good....
It's hard to knock a legend, like Speilberg, but this movie was absolutely horrible. The plot waivers like a flag. It jumps all over the place and is as slow as my grandma in a foot race. Don't be fooled by the people who said it was 'good', they are just being polite. Don't waste your time, and if you do, be sure to have lots of candy or something to keep you entertained.
Escape from Sobibor (1987)
Powerful without having to be to graphic
This is a very powerful movie. I show it in my world history class every year. I like it because it doesn't have to be to graphic but the points are made very clearly. Most of the time, the students are like, "great, a movie..." HOwever, I guarantee that after I show this that most them just love it(I hate to use that term for a holocaust movie) but you get what I mean.
Shrek (2001)
Way over-rated
This will go down as another one of those movies that 'everyone' liked, but in hindsight, people won't be able to pick out many lines that were very funny. It's funny how movies snow ball once a few people get behind it. Once everyone says it is good then people are afraid to say it was bad. This was not a good movie. This was not a funny movie.
Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
Terrible
This was absolute crap. It tried to be a 'clockwork orange' type movie. However, it just didn't live up to it. It was like the energizer bunny, it kept going and going! Everytime I thought that it would be over it tried to add another twist. I just didn't know what to think or believe.
