The series is a fantastic adaption. The actor playing Ripley nails the role and you really start to appreciate his acting as the show goes on. The show was artistic, psychological and immensely entertaining. I enjoyed the 1990d version but this might top it for me. I was impressed by the way things came out at the end that made me rethinking earlier conversations in the show. The back and white picture is was also perfect. The way they did the subtitles was impressive. Overall, you have to give the producers credit for how they were able to create something fresh and new from a story that's been told well before.

A comedy for its time

This movie is definitely funny and relatable, especially for all those old folks born after 1988. Its about a man and his buddies facing a changing world. The jokes are mostly around how sensitive the newer generation is compared to its predecessors. The main character, Jack, is constantly put in scenarios where his cultural norms are challenged. The movie did a good job of showing the journey of his character change and confront reality. I liked that it also showed his character being faced with cultural no no's from the older generations than his. I thought that was a nice touch. Overall, it was a good laugh. They addressed the main topic but not much else beyond that. It was simple, straight to the point and funny. I would have rated the movie higher if there was there was a bit more depth to the characters and the conflicts between them. But overall, I'd recommend to anyone who wants a good laugh at the world we live in.

Insecurity is poison

I thought this was a very entertaining movie. The direction of the movie was obvious from the beginning and yet that didn't change the thrill of the journey. The movie is ultimately about how insecurities and bitterness will rot a relationship. Anxiety and angst are probably the main feelings you will experience throughout the movie but that's because it felt like the stakes were always high. The acting was superb by the whole cast. Phoebe Dynevor's facial expressions really sold the movie. As her character experiences the different stages of the movie, you can't help but feel the same as her. She reminded my of Alexandra Daddario's performance in the White Lotus. So much can be said by bewildering expression. Overall, I'd recommend this gripping psychological drama.

Entertaining but frustrating
28 June 2023
This series was overall entertaining. Its overall theme is exploring the concept that everyone in the right scenario can be a murderer. A priest is put into a difficult situation where he must decide between doing the right thing or protecting the people he loves.

The ending in my opinion was not a very good one. It left me with a sense of disappointment and also had me scratching my head. While it seemed to complete the exploration of the main theme, it left me asking "But what about this character?" It felt like only one character learned their lesson, while many of the others, such as Janice, didn't really get see how their actions contributed to the whole situation. Themes such as the consequences of lying or protecting someone were never fully explored while the opportunity seemed to be there. The way the movie ended made me feel as if things were unresolved even though they technically weren't.

In summary, I'm glad to have watched it but it feels disappointing that it could of been a great series had they spent more time finishing character development and exploring some of the other themes that were present.
