My First Wedding (2006)
Great movie
This movie has some very funny scenes.
The lead actor is a natural comedian. He reminded me a little of a young Jim Carrey (not quite as over the top though.) I would expect that he might have a bright future ahead in the movie industry if more lead roles come his way.
The story is simple and enjoyable. It also has great comedic timing throughout the film. It won't win any Oscars but I have seen far worse scripts than this one.
I'm not sure why some previous reviewers were so harsh on it. It is a very upbeat, light and watchable movie.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)
Indiana Jones and the Curse of the Fourth Encounter
Good points: It kept to the original feel and flavor of the other movies. The humor was good and it didn't take itself too seriously.
Bad points: The film lacked energy. There were lots of meetings and talking/exposition moments. I don't recall this happening in Raiders.
What if they had...
Maybe post war Nazi's hiding out in South America protecting a hidden treasure or lost kingdom might have been more intriguing. Indy could have tried to thwart a revival of the third Reich.
Maybe Peter Jackson directing the film might have been better.
Maybe Indy could have had some antagonism with a female character or love interest.
Maybe the movie could have started with a huge chase scene or something to kick things off. I don't think the audience really cared for learning about what had happened between movies. We just want to see Indy grab his hat and dive under a falling door.
I still enjoyed it though.
Now, lets wait for the next installment: Indiana Jones and the Search for the Lost Zimerframe.
The Ant Bully (2006)
Honey, the Antz shrunk the kid
Here is the third installment in the ever popular series of Ant movies. I asked my six year old son what he thought of this movie, and his reply was "I liked Bug's Life better". I went along with an open mind, but I have to say that the whole 'Ant' theme is getting a little tired. The special effects were groovy and the A+ star cast were reasonably funny , but I can't say that the story is memorable or highly original. (Unlike Pixar films which tend to stand up well to high rotation.)
Having said that, I imagine that we will eventually purchase this film on DVD and be forced to endure a three 'Ant' movie marathon by our children one day!
