Unforgettable (2011–2016)
Poppy is Unforgettable!!!
12 October 2011
This is a great show mainly because of Poppy Montgomery. I loved her earlier show, "Without a Trace", and found her to be an interesting actress with a very expressive and sensitive face which displays many emotions. She is also very soft spoken, not shrill, which is a great change from so many women police in the shows today. It's a good show and Poppy makes it a good show!! I'm not so sure I like the red hair though, I think I preferred the blonde which she was for "Without a Trace"! Keep the show. I'm sure the stories will get better; and Poppy's character will grow and grow with her abilities and mannerisms. This is a winner!!

A Gifted Man (2011–2012)
Smarmy nagging wife from beyond!

Warning: Spoilers
Please. I have watched about three (or maybe two, may have seemed like three) episodes of this new show and find it very repetitious and boring. It's bad enough to have an ex spouse with whom you do not get along (otherwise, why divorce?); much worse to have her/him return nagging you to do things they think is correct for you to do!! Also, I find this show to be very, very political in its subliminal message: if you have money or medical insurance, you don't deserve the best; only if you're poor, destitute (for whatever reason) do you deserve sympathy, care and love. If a doctor studies for many many years, he/she is not deserving of making money with the excellence they may have; they have an obligation (according to this show) to do charitable work on a regular basis (to the point where they neglect their paying patients), otherwise guilt is heaped on the character. Sorry, this is the stuff socialism is made of. No thanks.

Disappointed
16 September 2006
I was disappointed in this film mainly because I love James Elroy's books and found that this film did not do it justice. The characters in the film became stereotypes or cardboard 40's characters. Scarlett Johannsen looked like a young Lana Turner on tranquilizers.........very little emotion, so much mumbling.............poor Hilary Swank was just too distracting in her black wig trying to be a 40's vamp ...........I guess we are not accustomed to seeing her that way and she evidently does not do well in sexy, seductive roles............Josh Hartnett did pretty well.........although the constant taking off of clothing of his different ladies seemed a bit tiresome......if I would have had this on video I would have fast forwarded the constant "clothes removal" scenes. James Ellroy also wrote LA Confidential and that was a masterpiece on film.........but of course, the actors were Russell Crowe, Kevin Spacey, Danny Divito, and many very well seasoned actors with a far above average script. Sorry to say that this film is not academy award material as LA Confidential was................Ellroy's stories can be told on film with good writing, competent acting, good casting, good screenplay and continuity. This was not present in The Black Dahlia. Actually, the girl who played The Black Dahlia was the most sensitive and sympathetic and portrayed her character excellently.

Confused characters - confused audience!
16 September 2006
I like Nicholas Cage and have no idea whatsoever why this famous, wealthy, and hopefully intelligent, actor would make such a silly film. The characters the actors portray show no emotion, have constant silly befuddled looks on their faces, and the entire premise of this story in this particular rendition of this story (I know there is another earlier Wicker Man, but I have never seen it, although I hear it is better......has to be, anything could be better!) is totally out of reality without any suspense or even interest. To be honest, I was what the media fears the most.......a bored audience. I could have been home doing something useful.
