The House (2022)
3 Distinct Shorts
I'm reading reviews where people talk about it being the same house, really? Not only did I not see that but it did not seem to have anything to do with each individual piece, and they were individual; they were not a series... Three shorts smashed into one movie length feature? The first leaves us wanting to know more because we care about the characters but they don't tell us anything at the end... The second it's just a bunch of angst ... the third one really moved me and I wish I could share it with someone as an individual piece, it meant a lot... in a lot of levels. And emotions were visible in the cats' faces. It's a masterpiece on its own.
Ginny & Georgia (2021)
Warning it gets dark
It appears to be a teen show with the excessive sex and all but really it is dark and for adults or adult supervision I believe... Some of these topics should not be treated lightly. Some very good dramatic plots here, even if overdone or stretched out by Netflix to make more episodes than needed... Good actors. Some nice ideas. Quite honestly I'm frightened by all of the sex that I see in multiple shows these days about teens under the age of 17... And unrealistic in my opinion considering all that teens have to go through - how they have this much time for romance and social comedy is beyond me, but I still felt some of the storyline was intriguing.
The Sex Lives of College Girls (2021)
Really?
Wow really? No disrespect to the actors they were amazing and some plot lines clever but it portrays every single girl who goes to college jumping into bed on top of a guy (or girl) in the first 24 hours of being there -- Um hello, this is so not realistic and actually kind of sad if young people today are being told that this is how smart girls act... Women's' lib is great - erasing all lines and boundaries and dreams of love completely tragic. I like that the characters are three-dimensional in some ways and highly intelligent in others... And it's also great if women are no longer afraid of being known as sexual creatures... But this show just makes your jaw drop open in shock when you see the portrayal of this freshman college activity as normal when it seems more like an alien from outer space mis- interpreting what college is for women.
Science Court (1997)
Love this show
Found this in my thirties and loved it. Reminded me of the good old school educational programs funny for both adults and kids.
A Wrinkle in Time (2003)
Better by far
Better by far than the big budget one done recently.
Home Movies (1999)
This is the best combo of wit and whimsy
This is the most intelligent combination of wit and humor that I have seen in a long long time, I wish there were more, I've watched the series so many times I almost know them by heart, but still I get something new out of each one - Watching it comforts me, makes me chuckle and feel at peace when it's time to go to sleep... We need more intelligent sensitive humor that does not need to use vulgarity or four letter words to show how smart it is (I love the curse jar episode). More please. Please. Please?
Wie ich mich traf (2005)
Lovely and life-changing
No spoilers, this little gem of a film changed me deeply, in a wonderful way, I would love to know more about the artist and find out how to share this film with friends since the series expired on HULU...
From the tiny sweet voice to the modest pencil-look drawings this one captured me.
Captured me heart and soul is more like it-
Going with the flow, flowing downstream, appreciation, and allowing-
How such a simple seeming piece feels so complicated to me perplexes me weeks after watching it repeatedly...
I truly want to meet the artist and own this film on a DVD.
So small and so simple but so profoundly deep to me- and humanity -I believe.
From a child's eye-view, or even smaller, like the seed on the wind, as it appears in the beginning.
Thank you!
